I think Putin is playing a very clever hand. His statement that he won't rule out military action if proven, just helps his position and reinforces the role of the UN. I think the US/UK are both in a mucking fuddle and what France are doing with their war mongering President is, well it's just not French behavior is it? I feel more and more convinced that military action is going to be a mistake for the West.
François Hollande is a complete fool. He never looked like a president, and he still doesn't. He doesn't have any experience of running anything. The French aren't very happy with him - unsurprising since he hasn't achieved anything that you notice. It's fairly typical of politicians in such a situation to try to bolster their stature by suddenly trying to be noticed in foreign policy. Does that remind you of anyone?
The list is long. Performing on the world stage must be quite intoxicating, much more so than domestic politics.
