Indeed...not wanting to hijack the thread. but anyone seriously considering one of these bikes should think about what you are getting into and how much mileage/use you are going to do. If it is going to be a garage queen with weekend riding only then maybe it might be OK.
my bike runs much better after doing the sprocket/chain mod and installing the TuneBoy maps (took a few attempts to get right by trial and error with trim files etc). I have since upgraded to termi slips, and even with standard map the bike is far improved to as it was before - will be adding TuneBoy Termi maps this weekend to see if I get an even better
I'm considering a 899 currently riding a BMW K13 which I will keep. The K are notorious slow at filling up,one of the mods a lot of owners done me included Is to remove the filler neck and drill a hole high up as possible to push the air out this also gives you a little more capacity by using up some of the expansion gap designed in the tank, obviously you would not fill it up and store the bike ,not sure if you could do the same mod to the panni?according to the on board computer it increased the range by 20 miles,
Light tends to come on between 110 and 115 miles. Furthest I've gone before filling is 124 miles and it took just over 14 litres, so if you take it easy when the light comes on, you've probably got a good 30 miles before dry. My mpg ranges from 32 - 42 mpg.
that's great mpg we get about 80 then lights on may have to get our fuelling looked at ehh sissy mc lol
