I walked into Snell Performance just to see what the new bikes felt like with no intention to buy. Only reason I didn't walk out owning one was because I'd just moved house and it messed my credit rating up for the PCP deal and went second hand instead. Couple months later I was down £2000 due to some problems and traded in for a new one!
So, happy to use a dealers time and add miles to their bikes and not intend to buy then? Probably why most dealers wont do it
Not quite, I intended to buy but the dealer and I could not agree a price. Also lets say you are choosing between two models how are you supposed to decide without testing them both ? Surely that is what dealers are for and they win some and loose some. Never been refused a test ride or drive as far as I can recall and have never had a test unless I was serious about buying .
Not having a dig btw, I can just understand reluctance of dealers to lend their bikes out, especially when stock is shifting quickly
Didn't think you were having a go, just asking questions. It's up to dealers to decide their policy and up to each customer to decide what works for them.
Cheers all. I've gone for a 1098s in the end. I didn't test ride it but its got low miles, good history and from a dealer so its got a warranty.. Came in below budget so I've got some funds available to get some nice carbon bits on it Pick it up next week - can't wait!
I've purchased my last two bikes without test riding them. The 899 is my first new bike however, but the old 600RR I'm trading in is so mint, I never felt the need to. It had a warranty on it anyway. Some people are a little more sensitive to how a bike suits them than I am. As long as it goes well, looks nice and fits me well i'd ride a barn gate to be honest.
