Looks to be a similar clutch set up to the Darmah I have which had a similar issue of the plates not moving true to each other which caused drag and occasional jumping out of first. The springs should be done up fully and one of the accepted methods of trueing it all, when things go awry, is by having 3 strong & 3 weak springs. However this didn't work for me so spent ages faffing about with different sized washers which would true it for one action but spin it around a couple of times and it'd be back to uneven. I finally suspected it was the centre pin that the pushrod acts on as it's face looked to have worn unevenly, and did look to be very slightly bent, leading to the uneven separation of the plates. Replacing this with new does seem to have tidied the action up a treat. I'd always replace all springs when replacing the plates as well. The Darmah clutch has two plates with angled tabs that need to be oriented correctly but it appears from your second photo that isn't the case with your machine.
