  1. That's the reason why GS's are so popular, and the reason why so many manufacturers are getting it wrong. The japanese manufacturers built their empire on utility bikes, bikes you could use all day every day - the UJM. That stopped maybe 20 years ago, the CBR600 was the last great do-it-all jap bike, and then it all went niche after that.

The vast majority of day-to-day riders don't want an adventure bike, but that's all that's left in the do-it-all category, if you discount chinese bikes and Honda Benlys. Build a good, fast, well-handling bike with a decent riding position, good tank range and a shit-load of power, and they'll sell. The CBR600 (not the RR) was the best selling 600 last year, despite poor write-ups.

This forum is popular mostly because Ducatis are affordable these days...

  2. Great post :upyeah:

  3. I loved that bike...... In 10 years il be boaring people to death telling them how I wish I still had it & how huch they,ve gone up in price.

  4. And hopefully in 10 years I'll still have it! :D If I ever do HAVE to sell it, I promise I'll give you first refusal.

  5. Nice bike and nice pictures, was the lower one taken at Leeds Castle? See if you can get long to a Kent meet sometime as well! I've got a twin seat and pegs in my workshop if you need to swap it around for a pillion

  6. Certainly was taken at Leeds Castle, tis only 15 minutes from me, and part of my 'I need a ride' circuit goes past it. Where and when are the Kent meets? I nearly made it over to Box Hill at the weekend, but was busy unfortunately.

Thanks for the offer of the pegs and seat, though I'm not insured for pillion, nor do I have any gear for any non-rider friends.

  7. We meet at midday every 4th Sunday of the month at Mickeys Diner on the A229(Bluebell Hill) Normally we go for a ride beforehand and end up there. Next meet is Dec 23rd where we aim to have a bit of an Xmas lunch if you fancy it?

I recognised the picture because the muddy area on the left before the bridge was where Ben dumped his Hyper a few months back rather than stuffing it into my bike when I stopped for on-coming traffic!

  8. Ah, rather unfortunate way to recognise a place then!

I'll have to let you know about this month, would love to come to a meet, but obviously being around Christmas I'm not sure what family commitments I'm going to have.
