the 'Anyone going to Boxhill today?' thread

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by Chris, Jun 30, 2013.

  1. It's probably one of the busiest biker stops in the south east, can't think of a more popular location. Bury Hill gets popular but not as many there and Loomies is less again and closing anyway.

  2. Imagined it would be busier than Squires but far from it by the sound of it.

  3. Loomies closing where did you hear that :(

Box also has the added benefits of the old Skool Fords that often visit, Boxhill Minj club, etc oh and the Lycra warriors

  4. Lycra warriors more and more show up in cars before jumping on their geycycles. How is that green?

  5. Harry has spoken to the current incumbents, and the owner has decided to sell off land (won't renew their lease) as it is a brown-field site and he wants the dosh. Loomies is closing the day the clocks go back (end of official summertime).

  8. How do ppl get up, get ready, and arrive 50 miles away for an eye-watering 10.30am on a Sunday?!?!? Aren't most normal people waking up around that time?

  16. Doing a "raffle" at Box Hill today was Soldiering On. A charity I've never heard of and was suspicious as to whether they were even real.

So I researched them, see this blog post which I had a link to from the army rumours website: Soldiering On Through Life Trust: the “fab” new website that censors previously published information | Dr Alex May

It looks like this is a very weird setup, doing nothing actually as a charity and only donating a tiny percentage of what they do raise. Further, it looks like last year they sold tickets for the same raffle that didn't happen or sold tickets after it was done and dusted.

Just a heads up for anyone else curious as a few of us didn't think it looked legit.

  17. Count the moment you allow charity's to become business this will happen. UK allowed it.

  18. They certainly got a few bikers didn't they? Chuggers they call them I think. Should be a law against it.

  19. Sorry for confusion I was up Ace cafe last Sunday by 8 in the morning nothing to do with this weeks Brighton burn up
