Ok, I shall be there for around 10.30 am too, hoping to get a ride out to loomies or coast today as the weather is cracking.
well it's Goodwood Breakfast Club for one and I think several are headed there - i am struggling to re-assemble motorbike in time so no fixed plans yet.
thank you DC, just finished cuppa before heading back out to finish before dark. What's wrong with it? would like to have said it's a matter of apinion but it's a sprocket  a real 'Hamlet' moment but just found a good 39T in useable nick and can fit with std chain so 'it's all good'.
Sounds like you might just make it out and about then all going to plan. Good weather for it. Heading to The Chalet for 9am and on from there.
Thank you Loz, it's true I did feel 'blessed' when I came across 39T in good nick on a cush-drive hub but it has been literally one thing after another :- Marchesini magnesium wheel had to come off A/ for refurb B/ to investigate play in it's cush-drive (advisory on MOT) which had got marginally worse. This turns out to be a mystery that will take some deep investigation as minimal wear on all surfaces yet 3mm gap consistent with all 5 cush-drive rubbers so A/ wrong cush-drive fitted and always had play or B/ to be determined. So got on with swapping and (this is the lazy part) although had investigated std sprocket sizes on 851 what with one thing and another had never actually confirmed number of teeth on (bespoke*) Marchesini sprocket but because it accelerated so well for a Strada I couldn't believe it had 36T. Big mistake when all I had to offer up on std hub* was a 41T.. Despite axle being toward rear of available travel the chain (as fitted) just wouldn't wear it and no spare 520 links to be found. After much rummaging found 39T but cush-drive hub with 41T on damaged from a previous chain break so (surprise surprise) sprocket would not come off easily. Eventually removed without distorting and set to filing off high spots ready for 'new' sprocket. Meanwhile rear axle had been tightened to within an inch of it's life (sorry Keith) and so both nuts binding i.e. distorted from overtightening (and surprise number 2 - Marchesini bearings all tight! - so lucky I removed it now - must have been running hot) and as no method that I have discovered yet of stopping axle turning in situ (and despite thoroughly cleaning threads and running nuts up and down) I then struggled to get a full 'nutdepth' on both ends of axle. In despair and dark approaching, I swapped nuts which (blessing number two) happened to bind at approx same rate (planned/guessed/hoped they might) so can see the finishing line at last.... Neck very bad now, so will finish tomorrow early a.m. - 'pain alteration' administered hence rambling. Hopefully see you tomorrow.
there was a Biposto for 3.9K that ended mysteriously today - not sure if it sold or not  how's yer weekend Fin?
