Thanks To Rob for allowing the usual meet at his place following the floods at Rykas!!! Must say the coffee was much better! And biscuits of every delight was offered. If he gets his finger out then Burgers might be on the menu>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>well this might happen in summer given that his BBQ looked pretty waterlogged!!
A few late evening shots as we managed to get through to Rykas to survey the damage. No waterline on the building but a quick look over the bridge showed the water still pretty high. And a surprise visitor in Satzoomer too!
Cheers for the coffee Rob - couldn't believe how the River Mole had reverted to almost it's former self in 48 hours. Good to see you all and what a surprise to see Martin as Stuart said! P.S. Just found an odd key in the lining of my jacket off a modern Ducati (not mine), anyone lost one recently?
Sorry you couldn't make it Jerry - Rykas could be open again soon btw depending on how much internal damage and whether the 'next phase' of weather materialises..
Good to see you all earlier I nearly did a double take when I saw the bikes parked up outside the Hotel, you've all been more informative than the Enviroment Agency
I popped in to Newlands this morning bizarre weather: foggy at the top, blue skies at the bottom. ended up talking to a bunch of sushi aficionados. One told me that he'd met Mrs Rykas: they'll be closed for ages. They have to replace everything inside and redo the loos. Again... Don't these people know what men's loos are like? They're probably cleaner after a few hours soaking...
Until it's sorted there's a good opportunity for a catering van to get in there. Or get an old caravan in like the old days
No worries Vince. Chris & I rode on to Newlands. I had a brief conversation with Andy (Box Hill NT Ranger) via Twitter, regarding alternative facilities & parking charges at the other café atop the hill. He said there are no parking charges for bikers there so that's a possible alternative meet up place. And he was big on the cake there too I'll post the full conversation later.
