The list is long, very very long , being Dutch means have been growing up eating cheese every day for breakfast and lunch, now particularly liking small manufacturers and abbey created cheese, had a lovely pick nick today in the welsh mountains but not before a visit to the M&S food hall in Cheltenham , they have a very extensive collection of fab cheeses
Camembert, Brie, toasted Goats cheese, vieux Gouda, vieux Conté, Roquefort, Maroilles. To name but a few. Plus a nice bottle of Roche Mazet cabernet sauvignon or if feeling flush a bottle of Beaune. Dave - cheese freak.
That reminds me I haven't had any Manchego (Mexico #1 cheese) & I've really got to get some Monzarella since its summer...
Haha - when I was in Sydney in the late 80's there were two types of cheese - 'cheese' and 'tasty cheese'. Both extremely 'ordinary'...
I bought myself this book for Christmas: https://www.waterstones.com/book/a-...of-the-british-isles/ned-palmer/9781788161183 It's an interesting mix of the history of cheesemaking in general and review of the best artisanal cheeses available in the UK & Ireland: each chapter features a specific local cheesemaker and their best cheeses. An enjoyable read, and I'm tempted to try and source each featured cheese, maybe one per month, though I've not started yet... and there are quite a few!
@Expat Jack I'm late to the party ..... as usual . I would highly recommend these two , to any cheese lovers Granny Singleton's Lancashire http://www.longmancheese.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Image013.jpg Tête de Moine ..... That sounds like a euphemism for something: probably quite unsavoury that we don’t need to know about!
