  5. Today’s ride,…almost didn’t happen cos I cricked me bloody neck the other day and it’s been killin me :confounded: !
However I could raise my head up enough to see where I was going, so I went off to Clontarf today…

Weather is back to its usual flippin boiling self as I cut back out through the wetlands again, these are the wooden boardwalks I was on about the other day..

Quite a few of the planks are loose now and they clonk when you ride over them, they’re like massive wooden piano keys, it makes a great sound :D !
    6E813DC9-8BDA-4BC8-8588-335A35291EEB.jpeg

When you ride them you have to avoid the nails/ screws in the middle, cos with the planks moving up and down it’s lifting the nail heads up, definitely asking for a p#*@ture, zoom the picture up and about 11 planks up you can see one..
Now I know absolutely nowt about golf, but if you enjoy a round, this looks like a great place for a game..

Hottest part of the day here, about 2:00 am , nearly too hot to be riding..

Cycle path runs out over this massive “ Ted Smout” bridge, almost 3 miles long, when your in the middle you can’t see either end ! I’m heading for the white high rise building in the middle of the pic

Off the bridge now and heading along the beachfront, not a soul on them, too hot today I think  ?

Today’s lunch destination, Charlie’s raw squeeze, I’m not a vegetarian or owt like that, but recently I’ve made a concerted effort to reduce the amount of meat I eat,..if you’ve got Netflix search for a documentary called “ the game changers” it’s narrated by a really mean word champion cage fighter of all people who was injured and changed his diet to aid his recovery, some of his research on where meat comes from and what it does to your body certainly makes you think, make the effort, watch it and I guarantee it will change your outlook on what you shove in your gob

They do some fantastic smoothies, salted caramel is my favourite :p ..

The cakes aren’t bad either,..but I resisted today :innocent: ..

What a smoothie, get in ma tummy!!
12 Aus dollars, about £6 quid, but definitely worth it:upyeah: only a Gazillion calories in it , but I’ll burn them off, …probably  ??

Bike path on the way back home, absolutely deserted!! You can see the Brisbane city skyscrapers just above the tree line, they’re about 15 miles away here

Back home, 44 miles in the boiling heat, much sightseeing, dicking about picture taking and drinking smoothies hence the low average speed, nobody to egg me on or chase so I can’t be arsed today :D !

Ooo, that sunshine, those blue skies, the heat, all that dry tarmac..... Reminds me of nothing round here :D:D,

    Ps
I've seen the Netflix prog game changer, it really does make you think, it made me review my eating habits. I'm in no way a veggie but I've cut my red meat down to 2 times a week, veg up and fish (tuna & mackeral) up

First 10 miles on E-bike, feel a bit of a fraud really, not burning much. One crank arm ruined as had been left loose for many miles, so best I could find was a 170 mm so slightly wonky as chain side is 175 LOL

  13. Not much in the way of hills in this area @DucatiScud as it’s a coastal route, might get into some hills next week when I hook up with Doug the Aussie cyclist I know, or if I take the MTB up to Bunyaville forest :upyeah:

As for putting weight on,..just won’t happen, luckily I’ve got one of those metabolism’s where I can eat as much as I want and don’t put anything on, that’s how I ended up with the nickname “Poucher “ from the guys I used to work with at Gateshead, I’d just be settling in at work about 08:10 am and get stuck into one of my lunch time sandwiches and one of the guys would say…” bloody hell are you pouching already “!! so it’s just kinda stuck from there o_O ..always loved my grub :yum !

  14. Thought you were Pouncher on account of your Kangaroo like belly…

Hang on, is he ‘Doug’ the Aussie cyclist or ‘Doug the Aussie’ cyclists?

Up Gateshead for work during the week 8 hour round trip and couldn’t complete the task due to high winds. Couldn’t really understand much of what was said to be honest……:)

  15. Great ! Pleased someone else has seen this documentary @H2pots it really does open your eyes :astonished:

Please everyone who hasn’t seen it, make an effort to find it and watch it, I’m sure you’ll be very much enlightened , I was amazed when he was doing the talk to the New York fire department,…no 1 killer of firemen,…..cardiac heart disease :(

  16. Aye,..some of them could do with subtitles really :D

  17. Haven’t got round to watching it, does it advocate a vegetarian diet or just reduce meat intact or just Red meat?

  18. It does advocate going fully plant based, not even eggs, milk or anything that comes out of animals, but it does say even if you reduce your existing meat intake it will greatly benefit your health, watch it, honestly one of the best documentary’s I’ve seen lately :upyeah:
