  5. I cycled with friends to Compton Abbas airfield for lunch, which was fairly average. James May, formerly of Top Gear arrived and went somewhere the general public are not allowed. He part owns a nearby pub and lives in the area, looks like he might have a PPL and a small plane.

More importantly I still haven't completed the Bowerchalke Hill climb without a brief stop, getting closer but a couple of hundred yds short.

32 today, 78 for the week.

  6. Bike been repaired?

  7. Cheers, I'm enjoying riding it. It's a change from being up to my eyeballs in mud and water.

If my legs have it in em though, I'm out on mtb tomorrow afternoon

  10. This week turned out to be a good effort, IMO, hoping next week can be similar.

  12. I’m considering a second pair of winter boots. I tried over boots and found them a complete PITA. The NW boots I previously owned were not warm enough. The current NW (2021) boots stink, we think it’s the neoprene ankle “sock”. To repeat what I previously stated, no other pair of shoes, trainers boots have ever smelt. They have been through the washing machine, tried bi carb, lemon spray, etc etc. They now live in the garage with ski boot warmers. I like the look of the Shimano MW702 XC Winter Boot, partly because I have the shoe equivalent. Can anyone recommend a two bolt, warm winter boot without the neoprene “sock”

  13. I use Shimano XM9 SPD on the mountain bikes through winter, tough boot that's fairly waterproof. They've had some stick too and still look good. Warm with a decent sock on. Not cheap though.

I would guess they're ok for road riding too

  14. With my driving situation, I dug my mtb out. Sure enough, gears aren’t smooth so bike stand out for a service. F*ck me, it’s like working on a starship! 27 gears, won’t take the big front cog and doesn’t like the small rear cogs on any of the front cogs. Click. Click. Click. Not going to be annoying much when I ride it.

  17. Probably your cables have stretched in storage, should be a small adjustment. Or buy yourself a set of cables some WD40 get yourself on YouTube plenty of info on there on how to set up gears.

It doesn’t take much between bang on and no way. Or your adjusters aren’t set to the limits required especially as your rear isn’t dropping to the smallest cog, fronts are chainrings.

It’s simple enough to do, however don’t let in be known that you can fix bikes amongst your neighbours with kids……….Work with the garage doors half way up…….

  18. Sounds like the derailleurs need adjustment.
