  1. Good work Chris, I’m not sure on distance as the lad and me usually just do 3 hours 3 times a week.

  3. I used to get lower back probs until I was told by a physio that I needed to stretch my legs and adjust my driving position. I run a little just not distance used to run 3 times a week just little 11milers late at night.

  4. Weekend ride of 30m mixed with a couple of short runs (4m-7m) if possible but shifts sort of screw up regular training of activity. But think I'm also a lightweight in terms of training.:no_mouth:

  7. Chris,
If your pushing out nearly 100 miles a week your not a lightweight by any means. Lower back pain could well be just a small bike fit problem. If your serious about using cycling for fitness it may well be worth getting a bike fit done. You’d be amazed what a proper Retul (or equivalent) bike fit can do.

  13. Today's meagre effort (with a loose cassette - opps, not an excuse mind)
    Distance: 29.21 mi
    Time: 1:53:06
    Avg Speed: 15.5 mph
    Elev Gain: 916 ft
Drinky would only be getting warmed up at this stage....

  14. wow, still seriously good average speed, well for me anyway. I notice that if I am on good quality tarmac for whole uninterrupted journey, my average slowly rises but best is still only around 14 mph over 2 hours on a good day.

  15. I think I'll keep quite about average speeds, mind you riding up ploughed fields does slow you down a bit . I'll just enjoy the ride and scenery .

  16. Just a heads up for this guy in NI, I’ve bought numerous things from him all of which has lasted well and isn’t outrageously priced. Prompt delivery.

  18. Maybe as Drinky suggested a Strava club, not sure how that works, I had a Strava account ages ago not sure if you can do a group of folk. Ideas @Drinky

  19. Quads like Chris Hoy, Drinky laying down the cage of pain.

  20. There are all sorts of variables to cycling speeds bud. Terrain, Tyre pressures, width, riding position, gearing, heart rates, nutrition ,sleep patterns a few more too ask Lance. It isn’t just a straightforward man on a bike proposition.

End of the day enjoyment should be your main concern everything after is a bonus in my book. Keep it up you’ll reap the benefits even if you just spin your legs a little. It’s all good.
