Have you tried looking up't north for a bike? They're all eeeeeeeeeebikes up there.... I'll get my coat....
That happened to me once in Swindon, mind you it was just after that foraging trip to the secret valley in Wales...
Managed to get out this afternoon and had to cut my ride a bit short due to flooded roads. At least I didn’t kink out like the bloke in the BMW Z4 (I think) tomorrow will be my first attempt at fitting tubeless tyres, I have the gear and have watched YouTube so it should be a complete fiasco
if you have the booster pump its very easy, top tip and it does go totally against logic is to remove the valve, bang the air in it with the boost pump until its ‘pinged’ onto the rim then its a race if air against sausage fingers unscrewing the head and getting your thumb over valve stem. once you’ve done it a few times it takes minutes to do.
I've done a lot of tubeless set ups, on my own bikes and mates. I do have a compressor though and it makes it very easy. The big dump of air is the key. Don't worry about deflating once you've got the tyre seated, they re-inflate easy once seated. On difficult rim / tyre combinations, I sometimes use a tube to get one half seated. Seat tyre with tube, deflate, take off one side, remove tube, insert tubeless valve, refit out half and blow up to seat. Soapy water is your friend for fitting. Always finish fitting at the valve, ensuring bead is on the OUTSIDE of the valve. I always inject sealant after seating through valve core (remove presta valve). Inflate, shake, roll and invert a few times (to get sealant everywhere) and away you go. It can be troublesome at first until you get the knack. Wtb tyres can be a nightmare, they're the worst I've found for sealing and getting the pop. Once you've mastered it, you'll never want tubes again. Thorn punctures, pinch flats all none subjects. I've had numerous mtb punctures and usually ignore them. If I'm peddling with a twig stuck in, I'll pull out, put my finger over the hole for a couple of minutes and hey presto, sealant seals the hole and away you go. I do carry a tube in case of a tear and i do have a bacon fat kit in case of large holes..... Neither have seen the light of day.
Tubeless licked after a trip to LBS! The charger pump wouldn’t seal the tyre, but a trip to Stonehenge Cycles who demonstrated how it’s done was frustrating as I was almost doing everything right. I bought a Schrader/Presta adapter and a single shot of sealant. Came home and took a tyre off, cleaned it up and reseated it immediately. I think the charger pump would work with the road bike and it’s smaller tyres.
Yesterday and today it was too cold for me before 1300 and getting cold by 1500, so shorter rides are all that’s possible, but still that’s better than Zwift in the garage. Still plenty of ice where the sun doesn’t reach and floods in the valleys. Hoping it might warm up a couple of degrees so I can start getting some miles under my belt. Only 40 so far this week.
there wasn't any snow and I don't know what the temperature was, so this Jessie only managed 15 miles today @Jez900ie. you however, probably conquered Mount Snowdon in the morning and Everest in the afternoon.
Still waiting on the bike shop for cassette etc to come in to them, hopefully on the 28th. It's been nearly three weeks so far. Had my first email from Ribble informing me of a delayed delivery date. Was meant to be 3rd Feb, now 24th March. On the spec sheet the Mavic wheels aren't in stock until mid April, we will see what happens.
i spent a week or so contemplating buying a Ribble Ti bike but decided to go with a more bespoke bike. The Ribble website would come up with different delivery dates every time I specced a build even if it was 10 minutes after I’d just specced an identical bike. I paid a fair bit more than the Ribble but I was riding it within 3 days.
193 miles in the shed on the Wattbike (8 rides) the rest in the real world. Minimum of 39 miles tomorrow, 40 on Friday then adding 1 mile per day until 31st Jan (44 miles). I must say though getting out day after day on wet or icy roads has been a struggle and safe routes have been a little boring.
You're doing well drinky. With snow, ice and now pissing down, I'm struggling to get out. Turbo keeps me spinning but it's also doing my head in too
I just set myself a challenge to ride every day in January with the distances getting longer each day. Like most people I prefer a two hour ride in the cold to a 2 hour ride in the shed.
Doing loads of other stuff, so ought to be ok when back on the bike....Just have to break my arse back in again....Like prison...
Weather's a bit more friendly at the minute. Managed to get 30 odd mostly fine miles of mtb 'ing in this afternoon. Good conditions too, minimal slop and good grip off road....
I finally managed to get out today, work, weather, family have made January really difficult. 36 miles of roads was not bad, there’s still a lot of ice in the lanes. A brief foray into Dorset and my first into Shaftesbury, over 2,000 ft climbed. Sawing and splitting logs tomorrow, just hoping my back holds up.
42 miles minimum tomorrow, 43 on Monday and finally minimum 44 on Tuesday and that will bring my self inflicted pain to an end. I must say my missus has been great, letting get away to ride every day.
