  1. You know the answer very well. :) Luckily it was such a dry almost hot day that it all dried off in about an hour, got most of it off with the convenient dried out grass around everywhere. Could have been a summer's day even.

  2. Earlier I ordered a crock pot slow cooker and 2 kgs of paraffin wax, tomorrow I’m going to pick up some white spirit and acetone, over the weekend I plan to clean the drive train and chain before hot waxing.

  3. Sounds hardcore for a push iron, I’m more a WD40 sprayed on the chain before/after every ride with a small amount of gear oil.

  5. been there, done that and probably every other type/way of lubing a chain. After countless years of using every bloody type of oil/lube out there I have been constantly returning to Muc Off all season spray lube. As it says on the tin, works very well in wet or dry conditions.

  6. I have two chains, so will prepare them both at the same time.

  7. Whatever used for lubing the chain, it's like any other chain, motorbike or push bike, I clean the chain first then lube.

  12. Travel over tomorrow, doing the 91 mile 19 sections of pave middle distance sportive on Saturday then back home Sunday. We’ve got a hotel 6 miles from the start so with the commute to and from the start will be my first century of the year.

  14. Jinxed the weather I tell thee.

  15. From memory we stayed in Roubaix itself in a Campinile which are much better for food than the same brand over here. I beached my car very near the stadium, I got back just before my car got towed away.:(

  16. The area around the velodrome is as rough as f#*k, the amount of cars that get done on the Saturday is frightening.

  17. this will cheer you up.
have a dilemma - crank about to fail (long story) I am 9 miles into a 16 mile journey, yet to use battery as was saving it for a return trip, (16 mile capacity in battery) I could take a chance that it would last 5 miles knowing that I could come all the way back without peddling or I could throw in the towel now. What do you think? B69CEA29-8F03-4A39-AF4C-BF243C28BD58.jpeg A4ACDD09-4403-49F2-B485-146AD8528417.jpeg

  19. Big (for me) today, 54.78 miles, including riding across Salisbury Plain through the usually out of bounds Imber village. Used my gravel bike, but the roadie would have been absolutely fine.

Perfect weather and excellent flapjack with coffee at Langford lakes.

decided to push on, and glad I did, rewarded with a latte and a free cake*. Visit coincided with high tide, the highest I've ever seen with my own eyes.
Lots of excitement en route and also at destination, can you spot the deliberate mistake in the top picture?

*you can just see the free cake.
