  1. wow it’s not a gravel bike.

  2. have a look for gravel bikes, lots on the market at reasonable cost. I’ve got one and its really fun, basically road bike’s with bigger clearances on the frames to allow wider tyres and gearing somewhere between road and mountain bike.
Planet-X have a good selection on line and usually have deals on.

  3. i know what you mean, 23’s with 120 psi are a thing of the past. I’m running my S-Works Tarmac with 32mm tyres and about 45-50 psi. So much smoother, more corner grip and faster.

  4. Say it ain’t so, those endless hours trying to work out what tyres for which event and it turns out 29er Racing Ralph’s were the go to do all tyre. I’m off to a cycling forum to cause mayhem with that revelation.

I’ve run Gatorskins for years now 23’s at 100 much higher and find it un-comfortable generally 90 front 100 back. I’ve had no issues from Gaters, although me bud tried em and gave me them after he had numerous punctures but he’s a brand whore so suspect.

But yeah if I wasn’t so tight I’d move up in width, my lads bike needs new tyres so I’ll probably buy wider.

  5. Nowt wrong with that:upyeah: Same wheels as mine :)
You can pay £10k for the latest greatest but you’ve still got to pedal the bugger....

  8. Liking the Specialized Sirrus. Looks like there's an old and a new 'X'. Can quite make out the differences, or if they have the future shock thingamajig.

  9. All on the engine, as Lance Pharmstrong stated 'It's not about the bike'.

  11. tubeless though, I think 45 with tubes would just be snakebite central.

  12. I’ve not tried the wider TBH, I’ve enough sets to be going on with my accumulation of stuff over the years but I will try the wider tyres for my Son. I can’t be doing with Tubs to honest but I have the Tufo clincher variant which are brilliant. I take a Tufo as a spare for quicker changes but haven’t needed them yet.

  14. What's your view on Planet-X bikes? I was looking at the Space Chicken (?) Gravel bike - but never took advantage of their offer! Too many hobbies and still have to work - damn it!
