  1. Dodged the rain yesterday; just got home and the heavens opened after a quick spin into the Peak on the Duc. But today was 23.75 miles on the Felt roadie near Leek which turned into a bit of an epic ride. 2.5 miles in and my friend has a puncture - front repaired, hopped on and the rear went! Then at 22 miles he got 3 more!!!! Ran me out of Scabs and scrapped a new tube; resulting in a 1.5 mile walk to the cars. New tyres and less blubber may help? Moral: go prepared!

  2. Blow your tyres up harder, usually I just take tubes 2-3 dependent on distance. Did you ride up Axe Edge, I've done it a few times after the Cat & Fiddle. Very lumpy around Leek.....

  3. I did suggest his 14st may require a little more air than mine (10.5st); replacing 4 year old tyres would help I'm sure.
To be fair both roads where the punctures occured were rough to say the least. Route as below - 1788ft of ascent was enough with the heat and 5 punctures and no beer stops:

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  5. I run mine high 72kg's 100psi rear and 90 front, I don't suffer many punctures but might be on account of running Gatorskins

  6. Similar to my set up: lardy at the mo at 66kgs. Running 100psi front & rear but no Gators (yet); not going to tempt fate.....

  7. My son and I recently both bought bikes which came with clip pedals that neither of us need.

Both sets are in perfect condition, never used by us and with no damage, just a couple of tiny scratches.

Putting them on here if anybody is interested in buying either set.

  8. Anyone on here has a rear wheel 5 speed, with a drop out of 120 mm 700c lying around? For vintage Peugeot Road race bike, all the new stuff has a much wider drop out, many thanks!

  9. You could Cold set the chain stays to take the newer wider hubs, the problem with old school is it's ££££££.

  10. Thanks, I did hear that, but is it that easy?

  11. It is that easy, there are differing opinions on doing it. I would cold set a steel frame they’re flexible enough to do it IMO.

  12. Perfect evening for a ride last night .

  18. I was supposed to be flying to Portimao today, so I though I try and simulate the full Portimao experience and go out, get knackered, hot sweaty plus a pounding headache...:upyeah:
