Just started riding everyday again - after a couple of years of just running. Both push rods need some serious TLC (cables all round, new cassettes, chains, chainrings) - <rant>but I'm a bit unimpressed at how rare spares are at the moment and how bloody expensive everything has become… I seem to have been priced out of the game… FFS.</rant>
I remember those years of me running haven’t run in a very long time with any consistency any spare time for exercise has evaporated. Double whammy I’m afraid, high demand last year followed by supply and supply chain failings has led to the situation we find ourselves in. From what I’ve read it’s also costing more to ship items in containers there having been a X5 increase in container costs. Some of Shimano stock isn’t arriving into the U.K. until September and beyond from what I’ve read.
Lovely evening for a pedal. Disaster struck 4 miles from home when the rear derailleur snapped and locked the wheel solid. Luckily was only doing 10mph. Managed to get the chain off and my mate pushed me all the way home!
Got 16 miler up over the moors this aft, short in miles but lots of big climbs, tougher than a 30 miler in the low stuff. Great conditions....
39 Miles up on the downs and Liddington Castle. Really enjoying grinding the gravel Liddington Clump - Very popular spot for ash scattering.
Lovely Friday night pedal out with two fitter mates . First ride since new chain and rear derailleur. Nice smooth changes.
got 10 miles in this morning and was all up for another this evening but wiser to leave it, it's a lovely hot evening so perfect conditions.
Got 40 miles in up on the downs/ridgeway. Been slowly modding this bike. New lighter handle bars and hollow tech crank set/ 2 x drive.
What tyres and pressures you running on your road bike, I have 90’s on the front and 100 on the back on 23’s. I did just the once run at 110/115 never again, was in bits at the end of a 120.
When I first got the bike it had 23's on, I followed the old school advice and stuck 100+ in them and off I went. Bugger me, when I got home I was ready to throw the sodding bike in the skip! Bloody butalised I was! I have 28s now and run 75psi. I also fitted a shorter handle bar stem, which helped a lot.
