  1. Fell asleep in the second half. Just seen Watkins goal. Amazing what you can achieve when your striker makes forward runs into space.

  7. It had better be dry here in Derbyshire when the final is on. Cool and damp yesterday evening. No good for hooning.

  8. Anywhere near the ‘Leak District’ is gonna be wet.

  9. I remember when playing footie as a kid we all picked who we were & I always fancied meself as a Peter Lorimer - he of the 90 mph penalty.

But I soon came to realise Leeds were just the team to hate at the time.... and guys like Billy Bremner made it all the more easy :D

  10. As mentioned in a previous post I don't think it'll be the cakewalk for the Spanish some will have you believe. True, it won't be easy and we'll have to be a lot better organised defensively (who does lead the back line I wonder, Stones?) but what with their forward looking outlook they may give us enough space to work in.

We do need pace up front mind....

    And someone creative in midfield....

    Plus a disrupter in midfield....

Hmmm..... keep the faith :D C'mon England!!!

  15. Those heady days of muddy pitches, heavy lace up leather footballs, and hard men like Norman Hunter remind me of when I was a kid Boro bought a midfield player called George Kinnell from Sunderland

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Kinnell

The song that rang round Ayresome Park at the time to to the tune of “She’ll be coming round the mountain” was

“Oh we paid £20,000 for Kinnell,
Oh we paid £20,000 for Kinnell,
    Oh we paid £20,000
    Paid £20,000
    Paid £20,000 for Kinnell”

  16. Why are goalies almost always a bit spesh? My dad was one and my son is one, so I've a lifelong double dose of it.

One of my lames to fame is that my boy has trained with Pickford at Lilleshall and is happy to report that he is a lovely bloke, albeit a bit of a live wire.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  17. Surely his nickname must have been George “Fu” Kinnell?
