1260 The Good Old Fuel Sender Fault Still Lives!!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by TonyMNo1, May 28, 2020.

  1. Chris,
It would seem that the wording of both the Ever Red + 4-Ever warranties are pretty much the same. Direct quotations as follows:
    • Ever-Red - "The coverage of the warranty is very similar to the Ducati Warranty (24 months) for new motorcycles and applies to all components of the vehicle except those subject to wear, aesthetic defects, the battery and accessories".
    • 4-Ever: "During the additional 2 years, the warranty covers the whole vehicle against any manufacturing defects (excluding all wear parts, aesthetic defects, battery and accessories".
So, as Andy has said above, we will almost certainly be in the hands of the approach taken by the Dealer + Workshop Manager, in terms of the application of these definitions and the overall assessments made at the time any defect is notified.

  2. TBH - I've always found it helps to have a good relationship with your dealer when it comes to Warranty work.

I'm just getting a new pillion seat. When I bought the bike I mentioned that the stitching was uneven in one section, I don't really know why the dealer didn't just swap it with another one at the time. I then complained about it 3 or 4 times and I think they just kept forgetting to log it, anyway after another phone call I've been approved.

Other work I've had done under the extended warranty includes
Cylinder heads on my old 2010 (just as the warranty expired)
    D-Air unit
Rear suspension unit on my DVT (£1,800)
New fork seals (which I was surprised I didn't have to pay for)
And of course flapper valve, heated grips and too many fuel senders to mention!

  3. Update: I've just received confirmation from Riders, Bristol, via Chris McLoughlin, that Ducati will cover both current MTS 1260 issues, being the replacement of the cylinder head (paint de-lamination) + the rear shock unit (paint de-lamination too).
A really positive outcome, albeit it would appear that Ducati agreed to do this as a 'goodwill claim', reiterating that 'cosmetic issues' as they describe them to be, are NOT covered under the EverRed warranty.

  4. Great news Tony! Now get it booked in before they change their mind!

  5. Stick some pics up of the paint problems just in case anyone else has this problem.

  6. Yes I’d love to see your blistering head...

  7. As suggested by RTR above, a couple of photos of the paint de-lamination issues on my 1260MTS, for reference.
I hope this helps any others out who, with luck, (although with a properly designed and manufactured product like Ducati, luck shouldn't be needed) will manage to avoid these problems.

  8. So I had this fault on my 2018 1260s a couple times over the summer. I thought it coincided with the hot weather as it would correct itself and so far it’s working ok, but sounds like it’s on its way out then!! Never understood why manufacturers know about poor part performance but don’t accept responsibility once they your cash!
