  2. I'd like one, but at this point in time it would mean selling something to make it happen. They don't grab me enough to make me want to do that. I guess this is the best way to put it really. Plus I'd probably go for an R and I really don't want to spend northwards of £20k for a bike right now.

When I look at them, I like the colour dash and err.....that's it really. Nothing really grabs me apart from the fact it's newer technology that I have in the garage right now, but that may not be a good thing.

All that being said, I'll buy one one day, maybe for the fact they will probably be the last of the twins.

  3. The thing is all Ducati sports bikes are lovey to look at and each of us have our favourites but when i want to go out for a ride the Panigale is the one i want to ride the least ,my go to bike now is my r9t scrambler its made me realise there is more out there than Ducati the rsv4 and r1m aint to shabby in the looks department.

  4. All I can tell you is, only one model made me pull the trigger on buying a Ducati superbike.

The 851/888 was around when I did not have the money, so that was out. The 916/etc didn't take control of my decision making process, as nice as they look. The 999 demanded both my attention and my cash.

Subsequent models have been of mild interest to me but it's been in decreasing amounts starting from the 1098 (an R would be nice, perhaps) to near indifference in the case of the Panigale. From everything I have read of the Pani, and the way it looks, a better choice for me would be some current UJM model. I'm a tightwad, alas.

Not a judgement on the various models' worth - I speak only of the indefinable something that makes you decide what it is you like and what it is you will make sacrifices for. I sacrificed a lot for the 999, and much more than I imagined, at the time. It still makes me make costly decisions, even now : o )

  5. Interesting, do you have any good pics of the r9t :)

  6. I think progress is what makes the difference
All the bikes listed in the OP look what alternative offering were available
There was nothing as exciting in my view and coupled with they won world championships
The Pani has a lot of competition from bikes that are just as pretty and in the case of Kwak and RSV4 can win world championships

  7. This is the same as mine, had a Ducati desert sled but was not happy with it so swapped it for one of these, very easy to live with
sounds epic with the standard akras has a good turn of speed and the brakes are sublime, only problem is everyone old and young
wants to stop and chat bikes, even the gs squad nod when i am on this.

  8. I like the pani but it doesn't have me craving one ( which is good coz I can't afford one). Really like the rear shock and linkage. Well, like the look, I know nothing about these things.
personally I do think you can love a mechanical thing. I'm as happy to see my bike as I am to see any friend or family member and would morn it's loss as badly...
perhaps I have been wired slightly wrong...

  9. Controversial but I think the 1098/1198 is the worst of the bunch, other that the swingarm it's totally Japanese is my eyes, thus why I missed this generation of Ducati sportsbikes.

  10. Might be true (I have a 1098) if it is then it's true for the panigale as well
I love my 916 but now I think that the only unique Ducati in the range is the 999 it stands the test of time and still looks modern today
That's from a man that disliked them so much when they came out he bought an MV.

  11. strange isnt it? I was so happy when the 1098 came out as I thought the 999 a pigs ear and the 1098 a return to normality... Now I would have a 749/999 in a heart beat and have little interest in anything made after

  12. had a sit on one last weekend, owner had set rear suspension up for maximum "soft" but I still couldn't believe it was right for a new vehicle, the damping was so innefective it made me think it could even be a cost-cutting measure.

  13. Now that's the finest V twin right there o_O
