The Lack Of Love

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Cream_Revenge, Sep 30, 2017.

  1. I like my r9t, but I really love my 1199. the love has grown over the 3 years ive had it. Im almost tempted to swop them both for an R model, but im not rushing just yet. The pani makes every Ducati before it look agricultural. imo.

Im old to the brand, and I didnt realise either. Its the V4 that I feel sorry for, poor things gonna get slaughtered!

  3. Like the 999 before it I think the Pani will gain more popularity when it's discontinued.

With no other manufacturer developing a vtwin engined sports bike for well over 10 years the 1299 will stand as the pinnacle of vtwin motorcycle engine development past present and future. The best of all time.

For that reason alone it's guarantee a following imo.

  4. Ahem, KTM RC8 ??

  5. I find agriculture desirable too

  6. Just went through the thread.....must confess I didn't know it wasn't liked.....personally I'd love one. Just can't afford one.....and my old pre aprc rsv4 factory wouldnt get me anywhere near one (a 1299)..... Having said that I did the competition to win that 899 that was at Silverstone and oulton park....they've not contacted me yet though to let me know when they're dropping it off....

  8. Ah, it is "liked" I was just wondering why not so much "love". (I don't mean how you feel about your kids love, there are different types of love).

I like my Focus, it's a really good car, but I loved my XR2. The Focus is far superior to the XR2. Maybe it's a fondly remembering thing. Maybe if your first "big" bike is a Pani you'll look back on it like we do our old loves in years to come..........

  9. Id say the whole question is subjective then....ie what you "love" isnt necessarily what someone else does i suppose....as i say id "love" a panigale....and i do "like" them....but i get your gist on the XR2 analogy.....id say at the moment theres nothing coming out that id "love" apart from one bike which is the fireblade naked....if it comes out and looks anything like this...

Then i may, just may think about moving my z1000 on but i suspect not as that'd take some beating...plus ive done a shed load of work to it to get it how i want...

    Although ive just found this...

So i still prefer my Zed but this does look good...

  10. I remember ta
Remember talking to John Britten at the TT in 1993 about that bike, a true gentleman who was happy to discuss the inner secrets of his creation with any like minded person. It was truly amazing and well ahead of its time, even had a little keypad so the rider could adjust the fuelling and ignition while on the move and save the settings in its ECU.
The engineering was beautiful, it looked fantastic and sounded brilliant.

  12. xr2, now youre talking

  13. Haha I learnt to drive in my Dad's XR2 hire car.

Back in the day I thought it was an absolute monster

  14. My first car was an f reg xr2 I bought it for £25 with a broken cam belt, fixed it all up and drove it for years untill it rotted away then I bought an astra gte 16v. Now that was a beast.

  15. Oh yeah I had the mk3 GSI. I loved that car. Thought I was proper cool in that

  16. Me on the other hand, i hate the looks and would much rather own any of the older bikes (except the original Multi maybe). Which actually means we all have opinions and they may or may not contradict each other. As long as we are all happy with our purchases is all that matters really.

You can close the thread now :D

  17. bet he doesnt like XR2's either

  19. I love the Panigale, I don't have one, if only my ageing body could comfortably fit on one I'd have a 959.
In my humble (and own) opinion it's one of the most beautiful looking Motorcycles ever made.
