So much like now, bit with protection and emphasis on bringing victims forward and recognising if its truth or not, and where boundaries really sit. But the problem with these images are that there are always victims and the only way to gain more is to have fresh images and to file share so you create a demand therefore kids are being sexually abused to fulfill desires of peadophiles . And this will never take away the desire to go 'hands on for offenders'. And due to offenders doing all they can to not getting caught how or who do you target? The current home office regime is fuck all about stopping or capturing offenders it is about ticking boxes to state offenders are compliant with the HO regulations.
I don't believe there is a "legitimate connection " between homos and paedos , Im sure I said that ... sort of. As for looking at images ...... ( call me a sicko but ) I spent some time and energy trying to find video footage of a beheading . I have Never wanted to behead any one and seeing the footage didn't change that . I was more interested in the behaviour of the perps , I cannot believe that a decent human could do that and wanted to see for myself. Baldyboy , I have been the victim of some absoloute arsehole's driving , he damn near killed me , stood over me while I was dying trying to get me to admit fault , has already killed someone else , my Mrs wound up in the nut farm ( the stress of it all and trying to hold down a job and look after me ) , it has cost me 4 1/2 years out of action and NZ$ 100,000 in lost earnings ... so far, and he walked away with a slap on the hand . I have had some very dark thoughts about what I would like to do to him . Sometimes such " fantasy's" were the only thing that got me thru a bad day, but I NEVER acted on them because I knew it would be wrong . If a paedo can manage his urges with fantasy I say let them go for it . Heroine use is illegal , addicts cant help themselves, and they aint going to go away, but we manage them ( the lucky ones ) with a substitute .... methadone .
Baldy we are agreed it is all wrong and outside of what our (important) society seems acceptable and right. But we are where we are: there is no magic bullet. And until all societies think like us (many countries in Africa have children of 11 married and on the way to children themselves) how can you ever stop it being visible thru www? Italy is 14 under some circumstances still I think, France similar, Scandinavian countries 14 as is Holland (that may actually be 12 can't remember) But...in circumstances like this where the children are as young as these are, tbh I find the morale argument tough to push

What we do have here though is a very interesting and well structured debate showing very considered thought on what is a difficult, and quite probably unsolvable problem.
I completely agree, that it is unsolvable sadly. I also get where your going with the argument about a fantasy (without the use of indecent images of child sexual abuse). Unfortunately research (finklehors model, the spiral of abuse model) along with my own personal forensic interviews shows that offenders generally start with fantasy. It is the one place they can act out their own deviancy without judgement . However it very often leads to re-in forcing their cognitive distortion and leads to grooming and hands on offending as masturbating becomes less able to sate their desires, and they start to chase the reality. So allowing them in their own minds to offend. Sadly I don't have the answers as to how to stop them. The best we can do as society, and what why working life revolves around is, educate kids about their risk taking behaviours, how and why they may be targeted thus empowering them to hopefully speak out during the grooming process rather than post abuse, whilst educating staff, carers and parents.
Seems a shame that we have to put the onus on kids to look after themselves, but I guess that's the only way right now. Not that it would have helped in this case, Watkins' victims were far too young to stand a chance.
I cannot really make a substantial comment about these offenders ---- any of them, including Rolf Harris even if he is proved to be guilty ------ I simply don't understand where and how they get off on what they do (or what I think they do)......
The thing is with Rolf Harris in particular , he was a respected entertainer from my era , you just cant see him being like that, the way he comes over is as a thoroughly nice gent. Its upsetting in the way of robbing you of fond past memories. Todays kids wont see people like Rolf from that perspective as they haven't grown up with the warm persona we've seen on telly. For this reason alone if I was his judge , I'd lock him away for the rest of his days for letting my childhood memories down.
