Wheres the test? The case? The jury? The cross-examined testimonies of the accusers? Don't get me wrong, there is huge evidence whether circumstantial or not and those who were telling the truth and were abused have nothing but my full sympathy, but c'mon, hundreds and hundreds and no one did anything while he was alive?! Back on thread...this guy has been found, proven guilty and sentenced and will now spend a number of years on a wing with other of similar ilk, sharing stories and trying to fool those who are there to rehabilitate and parol boards
I don't think sexual activity between adults and minors has ever been acceptable. Margaret Beaufort was the mother of Henry the 7th. She was married at age 11, but to much public outcry. This was 1453. That's AD not seven minutes to 3.
Good luck to someone not getting locked up for having sex with a twelve year old in the Netherlands. They will be. The legal age of Sexual Consent in Holland is 16 years. However, the law permits young people between the ages of 12 to 16 to engage in sexual activities as long as they consent to it. The act may be prosecuted if there is a complaint from the child's parents or the child.
The scariest one in that lot is Saudi Arabia. No sex until married, but a 58 year old man has married an 8 year old girl. back to Margaret Beaufort. She had a child at 12, and the birth did her quite some physical damage. like many things, it comes down to to that old saying, just because you can doesn't mean to say you should.
The prophet Mohammed is said to have married Aisha (one of his 12 or 13 wives) when she was five or six years old - but the marriage was not consummated until she was nine or ten years old. Everyone can make up their own minds whether this means that for old men to have sex with very young girls is OK; or that Mohammed was a paedophile abuser. Many muslims seem to take the former view, even today.
I don't think you'll find many Muslims criticising Mohammed, or finding anything that he did not a good thing to do.
The scary thing about this is that one could be chucked in jail for being slightly colour blind ... or not very good at geography
