how did you go about it? dealer or ducati direct? do you have any pics, did your ignition also appear very off center in the key surround? I asked my dealer to look in to it when it was in for a service, but they completely ignored the issue @Robarano , thanks in advance!
I bought the bike new and it had been serviced on the dot. Even though it was out of warranty they supplied the new tank because of this. I had previously had it replaced under warranty at 18 months old. It swelled on the RHS and was touching the steering damper bracket iirc. Ignition was not off centre, but the carbon key guard used to creak and was difficult to get the bolts to line up after it had been off the bike. I now drain all of the fuel out of the bike when not in use.
Just wanted to say this is a great thread, and it's really applicable to me at the moment, as I'm actually collecting my new 1299 from P&H in just over a week. Glad to hear they've done a top job for you Advikaz, as I'll be revisiting them for servicing etc. It's great reading through your experiences so far knowing that I'll have something similar as well! And that feeling when you first ride a liter bike and have the balls to crack open the throttle right through the gears, yes, I remember that very well! It's not something you forget! Coming off a slow roundabout on a dual carriage way, quick look around to make sure there's no one about, then bang! ... A mixture of excitement, adrenaline, fear and me wondering how long I can hold on to it for (it was a 2005 ZX10R and I'm not a big guy). This 1299 though is going to be a good few steps on in terms of performance. On the plus side, at least the Brembos will be a lot more capable than those Tokicos :-D
They run a tight ship in the service department, who did you buy from ? Did his name begin with M? Sure it was M I can't remember the rest ha ha! That must mean you're fairly local ish then? I'm down in Kent if you ever fancy a brew
Was off yesterday so decided to nip over to France for the day on the 1299, went with my father in law who was chief navigator... more about that later :tearsofjoy: Early start for us, left HQ at 05:30, scared the life out of my neighbours, they must have thought THOR had dropped in for a cuppa.. Made our way down to Folkestone via the M20, not too far for us.. about 30/40 minutes I'd say, bloody cold though the ice notification on the dash kept popping up.. good feature in my opinion. Boarded the train, the kids in the car infront hand their hands over their ears ha ha. Had a fair few passengers come up to me asking about the Duc, everywhere you go it gets looks or comments So the plan was to visit two museums and grab some lunch, first up was 'Le BlockHaus' (really enjoyed this). First impressions weren't all that, it's a bit odd as it's in the middle of knowhere, it's like nothing-nothing-nothing oh Shit! Where did that come from (Designated bike parking right out front) So this is just one of the nazi 'errections' -snigger not that far from Calais and I recommend a visit. it's an absolute monster! Really needs to be seen to appreciated. It was used as a V2 and v1 site.. Pretty eerie .. Some of the damage the tall boys made, mostly from what I gather from the shock wave of the bombs impact at over Mach 2! I'm sure you all know this is a v2, I couldn't believe the size of the thing, over 40ft !! Thank god they didn't all hit London, can you imagine! This is a British 'Tall boy' and Christ you should see what they're capable of.. there's a 100ft crater to the side of this place which can only be described as a small lake now! V1 launcher More to follow.........
Thanks triari, yes Marcus. Local ish, I'm down near Brighton, so P&H is strait up the A23 / M23 for me. Thanks for the offer of a brew  Always good to know your closest brew stop, likewise if you find yourself over this way
Been out today down to Ramsgate for breakfast with the guys. Me and the father in law both brimmed our tanks before leaving and then when we got back.. so erm yeah his fireblade took £13.59 and my 1299 took £20.14!!!!!!!! LoL. It's truly shite on fuel this thing. Oh and I've lost a few fairing bolts so looks like I need to go round her with some loctite... Otherwise everything is well on the 1299
