nope, but it was the fastest accelerating commercial bike of its time........ wasnt that Kwak's point on this one
A modern RC 30 it is not. The silhouette of the latest Blanda, Kwak, Suzi & Yam are far too similar. A Pani is lovely to look at and ride IMO. Surely the Japanese can design a gorgeous looking bike once in a while?
I do have an interest. This shares the garage with the 1299: But the point remains. The SP1/2 was an HRC production bike, just like the RC45 and RC30 before it. This is a 'pimped' mass produced Fireblade, which has nothing in common with the VTR, other than being a Superbike homologation model. It's by no means competitive with today's superbikes, but the VTR1000 SP1/2 is the rarest of Honda motorcycles: hard, uncompromised, unforgiving, difficult to ride well, beautifully made, and extremely rewarding for it. I had a 2015 CBR1000RR SP briefly earlier this year. It was absolutely smooth and refined, and a nice thing, but it felt distinctly slow, too easy to ride, and frankly uninspiring compared with the R1/1299. The 'SP2' might be an improvement, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be another 'soft/easy' Honda in road trim.
Nail, head.... the sp2 needed to be an application only superbike, Carbon fairings with the weave showing through, blueprinted silly motor that's hand built and instead of just sticking a HRC sticker on it, it needs a proper HRC frame plate like the original. Oh and it needs braided brake hoses because frankly there is no valid reason not too when you go to the effort of fitting those calipers... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I suppose it's horse for courses. It's difficult to ignore the fireblades success round the TT course though isn't it , so the uncompetitive and slow comments are strictly true are they ? Considering it's an 8 year old bike it's also still buzzing around on the short circuits as well , Jason O Halloran is doing quite well on it I thought.
It's fair to say that the TT is unique though, and BSB is a silhouette class and although based on a road bike and down on base power, they are all limited by the tyre technology and the bumpy tracks. It will be a step forward for sure, a huge one but I just want to see more imagination. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think this year McGuiness said that his has been unchanged for the last 4, which is pretty good based on the fact that while he's not winning everything he's still had a good bite at the top spot over that many years considering the company s1000rr, zx10, r1 and those 2 in the last 4 years have gone through very good incremental updates. So, while i agree with the comments the proof will be in the pudding....may be it was a bit much to give it the sp2 moniker....and, id say the sp2 is equivalent to a zx10 or an r1 so im not sure why they gave it the sp2 status when clearly their sp2 is the same as the stock offerings...perhaps thats the way now....there'll be 2 versions, or more of every current top end sports bike...
I know it sounds like a storm in a tea cup and probably is but can you imagine a marketing department for Ducati launching a new bike and calling it the 916?
Absolutely... have you seen Cousin Beetle and 911? Auducati would *totally* release a "heritage-homage" 916...
If you look at the Honda racing bikes in bsb upclose, it barely resembles a blade. There's hardly anything remotely resembling blade parts on it. The motor has had a shed load of work to keep it competitive
Im sure the Honda is competent but it does nothing for me. Out of the Jap big four, only Yamaha produce bikes of any interest to me these days. eg:R1m and MT10. Ze Germans and Italians seem to be getting everything so 'right' in comparison to Japan, with top drawer sportsbikes, nakeds and adventure bikes. Cant believe the day has come when I think Fireblades, zx 10s etc are dull, plastic fake a likes. Performance is up there, but lacking soul and flair. ..as to Triumph, ffs, in need of some serious re design and investment. Cutting edge? Not even when they 1st came out!
Koenigsegg need to start making bikes. Or at least design one for our far east friends to then build so mere mortals can buy one!
Bit disappointed to be fair. I was hoping "dreaming" that it would have the DNA from the RCV213-S @ 10% of it's price! I'm sure it will be a decent enough bike though. Electronics have come on leaps and bounds. Maybe a V4 in 2018?
Might be pushing it now, I would think they will want 4-5 years out of this platform upgrade. Maybe they will do another run of RCV213's but we will see Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
