or, just to play devils advocate...... The UK is one of the most successful countries on the planet, we have low crime, excellent prospects and things are generally excellent. Perhaps the low voter turnout is a sign that most people are uninterested in politics because its unimportant to them. When countries like Iraq and Zimbabwe have elections the voter turn out is very high, despite there being security risks, and even a risk to their life. if things were as bad as the daily fail actually made out (one of the most anti Britain papers out there) the voter turn out would be very high, as people would want real change.
