Twice swore an allegiance to her, and despite never seeing her in person, feeling quite emotional. RIP Boss.
She was respected throughout the world and did a truly remarkable job. An absolute pillar for the nation and Commonwealth during her entire reign. As stated above, still doing her duty until 2 days before her death. Unbelievable! A truly great Monarch, may she rest in piece. She will be sadly missed but all things come to pass. Thank you ma’am.
It's an incredibly sad time, she was a true one off and served us all for 70 years. I doubt they'll be another like her and certainly not in my lifetime. She managed to steer this country through the good and bad times and you always felt she was watching and had a handle on everything. Rest in peace our Queen, Long live the King.
Our company sent an email earlier, with one comment which struck a chord for me: "Just days after her 21st Birthday in 1947, several years before she would take the throne, she made what is now a quite famous statement here in Britain: ‘I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service.’ She really did live to this until the very end" Not a royalist myself, but as above she devoted her life to our country so have a respect there regardless. She was a mother, grandmother and great monarch so is sad news for this country regardless.
What a strange day today, the feeling of loss shared by all is blatantly apparent around me. The whole mood is somber with people clearly showing signs of great sadness and loss. It’s like the fire has been put out of them… very very strange feeling. Customers all share the same emotion, one of deep loss, loss of someone we didn’t know personally, but all seemed to share the same love and respect for. Rest In Peace HRH, you were an inspiration to many many people.
I was absolutely sure she had passed in the afternoon, and RIP, I'm not a royalist but I can appreciate the dedication and the strength it's taken to get through some of the ups and downs over the years (I won't go into them obv!). I watched the tribute last night which was actually really nice in terms of loads of footage of her doing fun things, showing the more charismatic side which was a nice focus.
My Gran brought me up referring to them as Auntie Betty and Uncle Phil. I'm sad but thankful at the same time. It is the end of an era we all knew was coming but avoided thinking about. Like her Mum, she was a nice little ol' lady.
I see that as a mark of respect the postal and rail workers have called off their immediate strike action as a mark of respect for the Queen. I applaud that and ask myself who else could have achieved such respect in the circumstances. Such thought for our beloved Queen.
I shall pop in the clubhouse later for a G and T in the Queens memory, I’m actually more upset about it than I thought I’d be. Listening to some of the personal stories of when ordinary members of the public met her and what she said to them, she really was a class act.
