Well they were only just saying on Eurosport yesterday that Monster (Major sponsor) actually likes Crutchlow because he's edgy and not like the rest, they like the image thing of a fighter, the Italians are going mad for him as well (see gpone regularly) just a pity our own (british) resist supporting the very obvious talent we have and would rather support the next in fashion spaniard or Italian. If your Italian fine, if your Spanish fine, if your British then for gods sake support our boys cos they damn sure need it.
Hey, don't lump me in with that crowd, I'm desperate to see Crutchlow win, and I'm sure he's got the talent to do just that. What I don't want him to do is foreshorten his motogp career by making team bosses nervous of signing him. I reckon the Tech3 bike has a win in it, but to challenge for a title he'll need to be on a factory bike. He's already bitten yamaha's fingers...
Yamaha have short memories though . After all they took Rossi back after he defected and took most of there team . I think (hope) that rossi retires this year leaving a full factory place for Cal .
And where have you heard that Cal isnt on good terms with Yamaha . Bearing in mind that at the moment he rides for tech3.
Old Ponchi looked pretty happy with him Sunday. Be great to see Cal, Bradders and Redding up there as well as Webb and some of the others trying to come thru. But as much as you like or loath them, they are not racers of the class as Marq, purely because he sees a gap, or not sometimes, and takes it. Cal and Redding have got far better at that this year, but think back to Cal v Dovi last year...Cal was quicker but wouldnt do 'that' pass to get thru. Marq would.
Herve Poncheral wasn't exactly over the moon over his comments about Pol Espargaro being signed to yamaha (or not, as the case may be) enough to respond openly about it (basically he said it was Cal's fault for only signing a 1-year contract). That doesn't necessarily mean he's got the hump with Cal, of course, but no manager wants to hear dissenting voices in the ranks. If I were Lin Jarvis I'd be chasing Crutchlow for a signature to go play with the big boys, but despite Cal's great performances he seems more interested in an unproved Espargaro. Is that a decision based on money or personality? I dunno, but if I were Cal I'd be keeping the bosses sweet...
Cal should look at Biaggi... All he did for years was man about the teams and equipment, got a factory ride and did nothing but by that time he successfully alienated himself from getting another seat in the premier class. If Pol has signed Cal is out his best bet for a competitive ride would be Bradl's seat (which looks likely to be vacated) otherwise there is the option of a Ducati or Suzuki seat, one proven mid pack and another unproven bike, neither good for career progression.
Still think Rossi will go and Cal get his bike - unless he manages to piss Yam off with unwelcome comments. He's made his point (a number of times...) Now he'd be better off letting his results do the talking for him.
It has to be a money decision. Let's face it bike racing is huge in Spain. And therefore it attracts huge sponsorship. And who's going to bring in more sponsorship? A Spaniard or a Brit?
That is very true but Monster Energy are a personal sponsor of Cal and has been for sometime. In this climate a sponsor you have carries a million times more weight than 1 you might get. Whether Yamaha like Cal or not and i suspect results far outweigh his comments. If Herve says i need the Monster money or my team folds then i doubt Yamaha are going to fund it personally. I also think Pol good though he is ain't no Marquez as is becoming apparant this season.
