  1. Do you need to borrow a pair? You can try my 150s.

    AL

  2. Thanks for the offer Al, but I won't be starting up till next weekend as im waiting for a couple of gaskets so should have DJ sorted by then. Starting playing with the front brake again, still no good. Had a fell of a 748 leaver this morning and im along way off that!

  3. Do you want me to drop by and see if we can spot anything wrong with it between us.............(Does that sound right? or have I just made an offer for gay marriage?)

    AL

  4. If you could Al that would be great, will you be on your bike as I've ever been close to another and there's a few things I could do with looking at as mine was in bits when I got it. It could just be me being fussy but the last MOT I had on my ZZR failed on a spongy front brake and I'm think this one isn't much better. I'll PM you later to arrange things, did you have a registry office in mind??!! Thanks

  5. No problem........let me know when convenient.............I'm fairly flexible.

    AL

  6. Well in my rush to fit my be DJ jets, I forgot to note down which HT lead goes to what cylinder. I think the one on the left is for the bottom cylinder but can't remember, could some one have a check for me please. Sorry I haven't contacted you Al, been bussy sorting things out, front brake all done, will explain when I see you but it was a seal problem, again!!

  7. I think you are right that the left one is the front cylinder.........I didn't check my bike, but looked at some photos I took when I pulled the carbs off.

    AL

  8. Dose any one know what pressure there should be after the carbs, tried to balance mine today but the pressure seems very low. Also can I replace the HT leads?

  9. Pressure?................Just make sure the gauges read equally...........and turn your tickover up a bit to balance them.....say 1200rpm.

Leads can be replaced if they are the screw in type coils.........try unscrewing a lead.......I got red ones!

    AL

  10. Were they not all screw ones? I've got some red leads some where I'll have a look later. Thanks Al

  11. Not all were, some were sealed....permanent fix.

    AL

  12. Mine are the sealed ones, been over them with the volt meter and all is OK. The bike seems to rev up fine, but can't get it to idle at all, well unless idle is 3000rpm!! Pinking on the front cylinder still but I have turned the mixture screews out and the further I go the worse it gets. Will put them back to 3 1/2 turns out and start again.

  13. They may not be the sealed ones, just a wipe of silicone round them..............if they look like these, they should be screw-in leads....

OK....which notch are your needles clipped at? Should be 3 down.........

Try the screws at 2 1/2 and work towards 4 (mine are at 4.25) because your set up shouldn't be far off mine.

And did you manage to do the float heights OK?

PS....try it with the airbox top off and no filter, then add the filter.

  14. Thanks Al, no mine are not the same as the pic they are grey and look smaller. Will have a play tomorrow if i can, I'll start at 2 1/2 then work from there. Float height are both at 14mm. Never thought about taking the top of the box will try that too. My fuel light is on, could this be a problem(lack of fuel intraining air?). Might have to ask you to come and have a look Al, it could just be me doing something stupid!!

  15. I have some spare coils........

Fuel light has nothing to do with how the engine runs.............in fact they are cr*p, so ignore it.

Check your needle notch position........and I hope you gave the carbs a really good blast through...........the idle circuit can be a pig to get cr*p out of it....

Also, I set my float dimension at 14mm, then 13mm..........they are now at 12.5mm, but if I get time I will alter them to 12mm.

NB! I just had a thought.......as your main jets weren't the right ones, what are the pilot jet sizes?

  16. needle notch is 3rd one down, I have cleared the carbs 4 times now, but the symptoms are the same as they have always been, can't get idle. Might be worth me doing againand changing the float height to 12mm. I think idle jets are 70's but they are originals I belive. Started it again last night and it revs up lovely but idles around 3000, when I turn the screew in it drops then stops. It could be my crap cleaning method, intact I might not have even cleaned it out properly. I'll send you a PM Al might be worth a chat so I can get it right, like I said it could just me being stupid!!

  17. Drop the throttle stop screw just a tiny bit and then when it starts to drop (if it does) gently open the choke to max halfway and see what it does.....

    AL

  18. Pilot jets should be 37.5

  19. Quick update, all seems well now and running, just need to balance the carbs.
Can I first say a big thank you to Al. His helps has spured me on when I'd given up before. Also the boys at Made in Italy Motorbikes who's brains I picked on a couple of occasion, and the help with parts. Only bad bits is the front master cylinder that I got has started to leak but I have got hold of a pair of Brake radial cylinders to replace both. I would like to gives these a new coat of paint, can any one recommend any thing matt black. Just my luck that in ready for winter!!
