Normally have a raiding trip into France once a year - hang out near the cases on offer and choose what the locals are buying or buy a couple of bottles and have a tasting session in the car park Still got some larouque Thomas Bordeaux which is v nice , it was about 1.50 eu a bottle but was packed upside down ! - tastes fine If I have to buy in UK normally one of the cheap 'villages' Can't stand white wine unless it sparkles and says champagne on the label
Went to WDW 2012 and stayed in Rimini, had localy produced wine every evening in the hotel ( house wine) and it was as good as any I have had before or since, 10 euro a bottle. Sorry can't remember the name but will be back for more. Steve
My wifes parents live in the Beaujolais so we get plenty of good reds when we are on holiday. I do like wine but I know nothing about it really. I had a load of different Riojas at xmas as gifts from our suppliers and really enjoyed them.
Here's a thought for you -duty per bottle of wine(straight, red/white wine) is £2.05 per 75cl bottle. So.... Of that £5 bargain bottle you bought, only £2.95 goes towards making the wine. The £10 bottle of wine gets £7.95 of wine making. Which is likely to be the better 'wine bargain'? And the better chances of having some quality wine making going into your 6 glasses?
Try Asti, and no not the Asti Spumante you get here in the supermarkets, I got 6 bottles shipped over from Italy quite a few years back, the whole lot cost £9 in English money, my aunt was coming over and brought it with her. It is sweet not dry but very nice.
Tend to buy this by the case as I don't tire of it. Sauvignon Blanc 2013 - SauvignonBlanc2013 - Top Row - Château Bauduc And for a curiously moorish desert wine, http://hedonism.co.uk/shop/sweet-wines/sauternesbarsac/hedonism-why-not-sauternes/ I like mine served near to freezing.
I'm afraid I'm a new world fan. Brazin old vine Zinfandel . Unfortunately I knock far too much of it back. It was a recommendation to me and I'm afraid I don't taste enough or know enough to take chances. I do know I'm a wine novice.
