  1. Oh dear England, vive la France

  2. Southgate is just too negative. Plays to not concede and HOPES to win.

  3. i don't follow football. i'm more a rugby kinda guy so i know what loosing feels like. but the banters good.

  5. Same old England (football team)

  6. I don’t agree with that. We outplayed them but were a bit unlucky with a couple of decisions and Kane’s miss was an aberration, most likely due to having taken so many penalties against Lloris in training that he was overthinking it.

  7. I don’t agree with that either. I think England are actually still the highest scoring team in the competition.

You’ve pretty much described Morocco’s game plan (only one goal conceded so far and that was an own goal), but they’re so good on the counter attack that you can’t really call it negative.

  8. The best result. Now all the adults can get on with their lives.

  9. Southgate always comes up short against the top teams. He doesn’t set up to win games.
Maddison is currently the most effective attacking English midfielder and he hasn’t played a single minute.

  11. Not really. ITV always secure games deeper into the competition when it all gets a bit tougher. And we all know what happens then….

And we still managed to lose on penalties. Even before extra time!!o_O

  12. How the fuck can Maddison be the most effective attacking midfielder when he hasn’t played a game, I see mostly blokes who rarely watch football spouting shite, some should stick to watching bsb and saving the environment :upyeah:

  13. He said he doesn’t practice against lloris as they practice pens the day before a game and they don’t want to risk injury so he takes them against their second and third choice keepers normally.
Think we just put this one down to him being a fat tongued, trophy dodging donkey :upyeah:

  14. It’s quite simple. The English football team are not as good as they think they are. Nowhere near the best technically, and we were distracted by the ref, got into our headspace. In the best teams that doesn’t happen. We are the equivalent of say West Ham in world pecking order. The next 2 world cups will see more emerging nations beating the establishment, then we probably get relegated and become more like a QPR. If we do drop down the pecking order it is because we still think we have the right to be one of the elite teams, because we won the World Cup in 1966. That thought process needs to change.

  15. England had 3 shots at the goal in 100 minutes of free play and one of those was from a fee kick. France shut England down and England showed little creativity to fight back. They lost, they were not good enough on the night. Just like Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Germany, all good teams but not on the night. Andy

  16. He's pretty much always been the same. Only into one thing......himself!

  17. He is the most effective in the Premier League, statistics this season prove that.

It's just Southgate likes to pick players who will help him not lose, rather than try and win the game.

The players we have are good enough to have won this tournament, its just the manager isn't.

  18. How much did you have to drink :D
Total shots 16, on target 8
57% possession , England were on top in all the stats, do you actually follow much football?

  19. And with the exception of the England woman's’ team manager, it's been the same issue in English rugby and cricket. The respective national governing bodies also bear a responsibility, IMO. Andy

  20. Having played football as a kid and continuing until 42, playing at a pretty reasonable level, I totally lost interest in the game since 'finding' rugby, with my son who at the age of 7, decided this game wasn't one he aspired to. Our choice was mainly due to the huge disrespect, gamesmanship (Chucking yourself all over the place in an effort to get he opposition booked, sent-off, etc), attitude of /parents/fans, extent of money within the so called, 'people's game, etc, etc.

That said, having so far watched about 1 hour of the World Cup 2022, I decided to tune into this match, as I felt that England had a decent chance of making more progress and which I genuinely hoped they would/could. Oh dear, poor decision...........

I managed to get through a tortuous 1st half, where IMO, England could hardly even deal with the basics of man marking, closing down space and playing to feet, insisting on relying on the long ball, an England anathema, a failing they all too frequently replicate time after time.

To me they were undoubtedly second best for the vast majority of this half, so I'd had enough, switched the TV off and left them to it.

It looks like, I may have made a mistake as it seems in the 2nd half the England team actually decided to show up, even with the lack of effectiveness of the referee, who in all probability had one of the worst games I've seen a so-called 'professional' have.

Good luck to the French team, who to me anyway, had higher quality, a better game plan and more focused intent.

Back to rugby it is then, for me at least. :)
