Dalglish’s period as manager of Liverpool FC was exceptional with league championships and two FA Cup wins and he did quite well at Blackburn Rovers too.
Not just a player and manager but an incredible human being. Went to every single funeral after the Hillsborough disaster. His cancer charity work with his wife has helped so many people too, I have no words for how much I admire him. And this was my first away game following the reds with my dad, kind of speaks for itself if you know your history
That looks like Goodison Park - specifically facing towards the right hand corner at the Gladys St end. I used to go to most of Everton’s home games until I moved down south in 1988. Speaking of derby matches - by coincidence I was showing my son this absolute pearler on You Tube at about this time yesterday.
Was a great goal. Try and find the one Andy king scored , then him getting told to get off the pitch by the police as the TV were trying to interview him at the end of the game. Around 1978 I think
That’s a bit before my time. I started watching Everton when I was about 12, c.1982. Almost all my mates were Liverpool supporters and up to that point I had been too, but none of them went to matches, whereas I had one mate who followed the Toffees and both he and his dad were season ticket holders. Hooliganism was pretty bad at the time, so my mum and dad wouldn’t let me go to matches on my own and my dad worked most Saturdays, so he couldn’t take me. Hence, the only way round the problem until I was old enough, was if I tagged along with my mate and his old man to Everton games. Everton were just on the cusp of that amazing run in the mid-eighties and so I felt vindicated by the impeccable timing of my turncoatery. What’s more, the fading of their fortunes coincided with when I moved away and stopped going to matches and they’ve never recovered that form, so it appears that I was some sort of talisman.
They must have used the same builders and negotiated a BOGOF deal, so long as they both chose a blue colour scheme.
