In other words you’d like an STV4s. Or a V4 Supersport only bigger. There’s a big demand for something like that, I can’t see why they don’t do one, it would be so easy. Sports Tourer, Everything from the V4 Multistrada Pikes Peak except the long travel suspension, handlebars, lights and beak, oh and get rid of the trellis subframe nonsense. Suspension from the Streetfighter, Sports tourer riding position, Wrap it in a beautiful fairing, Panniers, and make it look attractive like a Ducati should do. They’d get a damn site more sales than producing that ugly desert thing.
Based on what happened with the previous Lamborghini Diavel Will all 630 plus 63 all sell - probably. Will many of them get ridden on road/track - unlikely Will they pop up for sale in a couple of years time as a ‘rare opportunity to acquire’ at considerably more than current WLP - highly likely Is that in line with Ducati marketing objectives......certainly!
Wouldn't surprise me if half the buyers of these don't even have a bike license? they'll buy it in matching colours to their Hurricane STO and pop it in the garage next to it. Of all the colours they could have chosen from Lamborghinis extensive options list, they picked bile green? They've obviously been surfing MV's website, this has been a business mantra of theirs for years, paint it a different colour, stick a number on the side of it and a plaque on the yoke and double the price. (then if it sells well increase the limited run from from 250 to 2500 )
would love to doctor the video to show Pecco's nose do a slowly increasing "Pinocchio" from 9 minutes onwards.
The only invitation-only Ducati I'd like is the Club Italia... now that was pretty. And the best Delta edition too... I'd like the pair please.
Clearly a few very rich people will buy this without thinking about depreciation and what it costs over a standards SFV4S. It's a good earner for Ducati if then can shift them with huge a huge profit margin, plus the margin on the underlying bike already. You can see the production line already, all the same workers bolting their components on a standard SFV4S then someone says they've got a Lambo one, all the same people pick up the "special" bolt on parts to the same chassis. Like others have said to me this devalues the brand, I wouldn't be seen dead on one of those because it already has a stigma to it, and it really offers nothing over a standard bike. You could get a standard bike painted and 99% of people wouldn't know anyways.
Ducati are trying to 'buy' kudo's and cool. It doesnt work that way. It comes across rather as shallow and very uncool. They disregard their core and focus on money. Give us some fucking build quality you fucking tossers. A bike that won something would be nice. Oh lets fill the grid up with Ducati's, that will win us something. No. The Yamaha is still on top in MotoGP and WSB etc. Fucking idiotic PR and management team missing a fucking sitter from 2yds out. Yeah lets make an alliance with Lamborghini another italian manufacturer thats done fuck all in race trim ever. Whos one claim to fame is a stunning Muira 50 odd yrs ago and build fancy cars for millionaire drug dealers.
Its a tongue in cheek rant. I'm generally good humoured. I try to master being annoying. Just enough for a dead arm but not a punch in the face. So far its worked fine for me.
It’s an alliance with a sister brand, which I get. What it tells me is that they feel the SF is like a lambo: and given all the wings and ugliness I agree!! Loud. Aggressive. Serves no purpose whatsoever. Build quality questionable. And overly expensive. Think they’ve nailed it
That's the well-observed bit, cross-functional marketing with minimal cost dreamed up a group level and leveraging the maximum number of assets to give the illusion that whether it's two wheels or four the Italian passion can't be stopped, even elite motorsport demigods agree... If this nonsense didn't work they wouldn't do it. Some of it looks really cool and some of it doesn't.
My dream bike is a 1299 Superleggera. I have no doubt that I will never own one. That’s a proper Ducati that’s not trying to be anything other than fast as f***. My kinda bike. I do have a v2 Bayliss on order because:- 1. I love it’s looks and, more importantly 2. In my mind it represents very good value compared to the standard v2 I hope to see some proper developments on the rest of the range but I’m not holding my breath.
