Well, ive got a photo of the actual engine case/number so i can only think to call the filth and see if it comes up?
Interestingly i found this on the DLVA site so if hes going to change the engine numbers then he's gotta jump through all the hoops....so im reasonably confident this will be ok... https://www.gov.uk/change-vehicle-d...ber or,report provided for insurance purposes
Why bother the Police, it doesn’t sound likely that it is a stolen engine if he’s going to the trouble of informing DVLA of the engine swap. There are plenty of Rotax 123/122 engines not in the correct frames, I highly doubt any of the eager teenage purchases have ever checked the numbers add up to the logbook.
Well, last night i spoke to my mate (who ive known since we were 8 so i trust him implicitly) - he's got some experience of the ins and outs of motor stuff (he works for the NCA and has worked in lots of different departments over the years and one tapped into stolen cars).....he said if the DVLA approves the change then its legit. He's running training at the moment and apparently he's teaching some ex Greater London Met officers so hes gonna check with them on monday. TBH now after all the research ive done im happy but the icing on the cake will be the V5 being in order. Hes got my deposit and is happy to do it and wait a couple of weeks. So, that makes me happy too.... Its just a bit unnerving as ive never bought a bike without the V5 being in order...all of mine are, and just to add every nut, bolt, part, consumable that ive bought ive kept the receipt for and written down when it was added and what the mileage was.
Yes. But I'm always buying privately at the cheaper end of the market with little or no other documentation. So I consider it essential. I've found 2 bikes and 3 cars over the years where the engine number doesn't match, but I've always been happy with the explanation.
I've got 2 bikes with no V5. Brought them back into UK from living abroad 5 yrs ago. Got all of the Nova paperwork done at the time. Need to go through heavy examination MOTs to get them on UK plates and then dick around sorning etc. Easier to leave them outside of the system till I'm ready to ride/sell them.
So, he just got message back. V5 is all up to date..thunderbirds are go....probably next friday ill go up to get it...
