How much horsepower that gonna buy him? What, four? Six - maybe?? Around a 2.5% increase for that dollar just isn't worth it. Especially when CJS can easily get you 8+ (around double) for way less than half with his most basic head job and you get a better running engine across the board, with stock pipes (Termi silencer) into the deal.
Fair point. Don't know what you'd pay for a LV system now (can you get them still?) - say £1,500 to £2K? My 999s with one fitted (and set up by Chris) gave approx 143 at the back wheel. Can't remember what the 'before' figure was. But of course there's the dyno time to pay for.....
Mate I know what it's like - we all want more innit? Been around that block a buncha times already and still struggle with the cost vs benefit vs excitement (and hope!) ratio for decades now and am still a mug for stupidly small improvements in some performance parameter (weight, handling, power). I need to grow up and smell the coffee! Thing is I'm really wary now of recommending shit to peeps asking and feel obligated to give em some idea of what they're gonna realistically achieve from their new big-spend item, especially if they're not combining it with a bunch of other waste of money at the end of the day shit too. All too often easy engine mods cost WAY more than their worth unless your name really friggin is Valentino God Rossi and you're elated with a 0.10s per lap difference as that may make all the difference. For mugs like me (and probably most people) getting the bike sprung to suit, getting a good Dyno map custom built, gearing, and reducing unsprung weight is about as good as the fucker is gonna get - most spend above that is just spunking money away for negilibile return. I've made this bloody mistake so many times it's not funny... Of course, if it's bling factor only someone is after and money is not a problem for them then do whatever! We've all heard it before because it's true - if you want much more power out of an engine then either be prepared for big wasteful spend or trade up to a mode powerful bike/car/whatever.
