Thinking of selling

  1. a great tip is to stick to the speed limit on any straights..this is where plod will catch you..and you run the risk of putting in some impressive numbers....
once in some bends you are less likely to have a bloke hiding behind a hedge. having a an off or two is a great rev limiter ive found..it hurts more than a fine and seeing your baby laying in a ditch is quite sobering...more so if you werent at fault, and not speeding in the first place...
as mentioned, if you go onto your local plod website they give out details of areas that they will be protecting for your safety.

bottom line, pick your moments, and if you find youre constantly over a ton, become a track rider (although in this shitty country you'll be lucky to ever see a dry track...oh and you wont be able to go for a spontaneous ride)...

OR, move to Spain or Italy where they live and breathe bikes, you can ride for 9 months of the year in sunshine and plod are more likely to give you a ticking off and not equate you to a rapist.

  2. this is so true..when the limits are easier to find it then becomes a case of taking the pish...low powered are fun purely because of the abuse that can be inflicted upon them...at 40....trouble is, its hurts just as much when you bin it...

  3. Round this way the b*ggers hide just around bends.

  4. hmmmm...you need to pick the right stretches of road me thinks...ie no hidden driveways and such like

as fellow bikers i think its prudent to warn on coming riders if you see a speed trap. this safety measure could prevent a rider from panic braking and helps the police in maintaining public safety monitoring for quality and training purposes.

  5. Whatabout riding more country lanes? I accidentally found myself on some the other day after a wrong turn but found myself going back on purpose. Why? Everything happens very quicky, tons to keep your mind occupied (potholes, tractors, horses, pedestrians!), almost zero chance of police and you're not even going very fast anyway. But it's bloody fun! Note: I slow right down for blind corners and said obstacles but you can get some speed up in places and have to flick the bike (848 Evo) about a lot. It really gets my mind focused. Its good to mix it up a bit.

  7. I was thinking something like that cheap on insurance too.

I think i just get carried away when the sun finally comes out.

  8. a guy nicked for warning oncoming drivers of the "safety camera".....

Driver who flashed headlights to warn motorists of speed trap fined | Mail Online

  9. Flashing your headlights is not an offence. Giving a policeman a lot of lip and admitting - or rather insisting - you were deliberately trying to negate a police operation is likely to get you in big trouble. If this guy had kept his mouth shut he would have been OK.

  10. Embrace the speed and get the fuck on with it, that's what I say.

  11. Exactly why I sold my beautiful 749 mono and replaced it with a 696 and have always regretted it. Should have just learnt to ride it slower.

  12. coppers do get arsey when you do your civic duty...i think it affects the targets or something..wont stop me warning fellow bikers/motorists though..for all i know, there could be a stationary tractor round the next blind bend, or a crafty c*nt crouching behind a tree...usually the latter...

film any discussions with plod for your protection...a funny vid on u tube ends where a copper is trying to do a motorist for anything but cant so does him for using a mobile phone whilst behind the wheel (he was being filmed obviously)...oh how i laughed when the motorist informed him that it was an iPod!! coppers face was epic...yet he was still being a bumhole..hurrah!

  13. Or you could just apologise...

  14. Didn't he win on appeal or am i imagining it?

I thought the appeal court stated that the police would have to prove that a driver being warned was already speeding when flashed by an oncoming car.

  15. I always wondered about this appeal. heard something but never followed it up
it used to be construed as pervert justice by doing that simple act.
but the presumption is that the person receiving the flash was going to speed anyway.
but with many laws its mens rea

  16. that's for backing it in before you head for the apex... :)

  17. I can't see how anyone could be prosecuted for flashing another vehicle.

Firstly, you only flash to warn other drivers that you're there (how could it be proved that you were doing otherwise?)
Also, speed traps aren't there to trap motorists are they? They aren't there to generate fines and income are they? They are there for one purpose, to encourage drivers to stick to the speed limit and therefore be safer on the road. So by warning oncoming drivers, you're actually helping the police achieve their objectives. In fact, you extending the 'safe driving zone' by warning in advance.
Also, if you saw somebody commit an offense, isn't it your civic duty to publicly scorn them by pointing at them or flashing your lights at them. Too many people turn a blind eye to this kind of behaviour.

  19. I think the guy maybe answered truthfuly when questioned about why he was flashing his headlights

  20. Jeeze, talk about having it both ways!

I like Kenoir's elucidation: 'In fact, you extending the 'safe driving zone' by warning in advance.'
