they are in trouble with the Grass Roots, but most folks aint on twitter, 80k accounts in a nation of 5.5mill. most dont follow scottish politics in a nerdy kinda way. we get 99% of our news focused on the UK (england and westminster) the fall out might afect the list vote, bit it wont afect the constituancy vote. near all of the opposition are elected by the list vote, including the Greens who are also a pro indi party. there has been a majority of pro indi partys in hollyrood for 13 years.
But by all accounts the largest group of voting Scots want Independence, and if they do they will have to vote SNP. It was the same in the last GE. I very much doubt that most people wanted more austerity or Tory ideology, but when you combined it with the surety of Brexit, it was an inevitable result. It will be the same in Scotland imo.
they dont have to vote for the SNP if they want independence, tho that is how its framed and how westminster will attempt to spin it. what you need is a majority in parliment to vote for a reff, then the people to confirm it in some kind of election (when it is safe and prudent to have one) then independence recognisized by the international community.

I was in agreement up to this point. No way on the natural resources bit. Have you heard of Africa? And believe me, the UK oil fields are like a dripping tap compared to geysers on the African continent. Wells are being decommissioned and capped right left and centre in UK waters.

You might be right. There will be an election soon, with the principle manifesto point being to gain an Inde ref ASAP. The SNP will win a landslide. rather like they have done for sometime, except bigger. Then what will you say?
per head. for energy the future has to be green. so from an energy point of view alone, 20% of the EU's potential is in scottish tidal, wind renewables.
an SNP landslide isnt a given. the election system we have is designed to stop majority Govs. they run a minority Gov. as they did in 2007-11. the torys are attempting to orginize a grand coalition (bitter togeather MK2) lets see how those elections go first.
When people realise they will have to pay for medical services, education and general big tax increases they may think again, but that’s not a given as the Brexit campaign shows.
if the english are hated by the scots, why is 10% of our population english born? why do so many of them vote for independence and are quite vocal about the disaster that is trojo and conservativ policy? do you think i would be part of something that is bigoted in such a way?
200bl turn over, 60bill in tax sent to westminster, in a normal year 30 bill returns. the rest, plus borrowing goes to things we would never chose to have or do. do you honestly think we will be financially poorer?
and also, there is a good reason why so many scots live in england, particularily london and the south east. for many it will be the same reason many of my mates did in the 80s during thatcher. to find work.
I would have hoped you would realise the value of democracy & its importance to the good people of Scotland and congratulated them. Still if you only stop being deliberately obtuse, it will be progress.
