Once everyone has moved their bike to race mode and got their settings where they are comfortable with them, how many of us actually use them? I expect the track guys do, but road guys? Ive not changed mine since i found race mode. My TC is where its not intrusive (3) and all other settings have been left alone. Ive never used any other mode, sport or rain. I never needed any on my 1198 and my 916 doesnt have any.
It looks like the FIM agreed a percentage increase in the price cap - announced yesterday but they haven't announced what that percentage will be. Ducati websites seem to be showing about a 10% price increase from what I have seen. Perhaps Ducati delayed the V4R release until the price cap increase was agreed.
Just cancelled my order, wasn't special enough to make financial sense as by the time I buy the bike, the exhaust, the EVO3 upgrade, trackday plastics, some slicks and get it painted its nudging 50k ... £38995.00 Bike £6156.00 Akra system £130 Lower panels to infill bottom fairing £530 (tbc) DTC EVO3 £700 (est) full trackday fairing kit inc. seat and tank cover £1000 Paint £400 Slicks I'm ooooooooot
I know what you mean. I was certain that I would want to move from my SP2 to the V4R prior to the announcement. I'm still undecided but strongly leaning toward staying with my SP2. Paying for the Akrapovic is not a big deal as I am/was looking to do upgrade the exhaust on my SP2 anyway, but the higher starting price hasn't helped matters. My 'parts bin special' (apparently) SP2 has Superleggera wheels, excellent brakes and master cylinder, plenty of power, current electronics, nice rearsets, GPS and DDA, etc... And it doesn't have a number 1 on the sides and front... Other than simply wanting to own a V4R I'm not sure why I would make the move.
No mag wheels? Only £4600. Truth is any of the lower v4 models from base up to SP is a better bet for 99.999% of track riders. More than enough.
I’m really happy with my v4r, not sure what the cost to change will be but I’m guessing it will be approaching £20k which I’m struggling to justify tbh.
How do you guys ride 50k plus bikes on track and dont worry about slinging it up the road? It took me 2 days at Almeria to stop worrying about my 1299s and thats nowhere near their value.
It's but a number ... chance of a catastrophic event are slim, not nil, but slim, calculated risk ....
Depends if you are surrounded by fuckwits trying to win inters on the sighting lap….oh sorry other than the Ducati day..,
For me I just took it fairly steady, not been on track for a few years and first time with the v4r back in May at the Ducati dsy at Donington so allowed plenty of margin, no need to push it.
Thats a fair point actually. Its one I asked myself and why I stopped myself from buying a new bike and decided to track what Ive got. I'm not as fast as you guys as Im relatively inexperienced. So ive slowly brought my 1299 to track readyness. Almeria gave me the bug. (Then the financial and energy situation hit, wifey lost job and money saving has paused my track ambitions for the short term. Well for remainder of this yr anyways)
Amazing the speeds that it can achieve without sounding stressed. On the road you must be just short shifting all of the time to try to stay under 100mph.
