Paid £977 last year for my panigale when it was new, just done a quote for this years insurance, £435. Happy with that
Yeah my car insurance ‘auto renewed’ when I was away and surprise surprise I got bummed for an extra £200…
Netherlands: 2001 996S. 100 euro/year, all-risks oldtimer insurance. Limitation: 4000 km max, no commuting. 2007 1100 MTS: 75% no claim (20 years), Liability only, max 20.000 km 50 euro/year.
Had to cancel my insurance today. Due to a change in personal circumstances, I now no longer live in the same place as my bikes are and my insurance company helpfully said that they won't now cover them so either I would have to cancel the policy or they would. Oh, and with fees I will get nothing back. The broker then said "they'll see if they can find someone else and will get back to me in a couple of days". The bikes are where they have always been, it's just that I don't live there anymore. Any hour on the phone with bemoto and the best they can do is 3 times what I paid last year. On separate policies. Bikesure were supposed to be getting back to me, but nothing yet. Any suggestions for someone else I can try? The bikes are secure but knowing my luck... Bit fed up at the moment...
Insurance companies have got really hard arse over the last 10 years or so. And tbf I remember the days when everyone took the absolute piss with insurance. Spill some tea on the carpet- new carpet please… oooh, I’ve just had my Rolex stolen- new Rolex please. Then there was the whiplash scam closely followed by the crash for cash scam. It wasn’t sustainable. And as usual it’s the innocent end users picking up the tab.
Duke enduro £292 last year, £290 this year. I am quids in edging towards been a millionaire I tell you
I had a similar, but much less annoying, problem when moving house. I wanted to leave my bike in a friends garage for a few days over the move so I didn't have to worry about moving the the bike on the day. After a few phone calls I managed to get a note added to the policy to cover the bike not being at my home address, at a specific address and only between specific dates and for no more that a couple of days. I know @TonyMNo1 had a similar problem when he moved house and had to put his bikes into storage for a couple of months while in rented accommodation. Might not work for you if you plan to take the bikes out for a ride now and then.
My bikes are stored at a separate address to my home address and i have no problems with my insurance ,(Carol Nash) You could also try Footman James.
Footman James renewal came through for almost £500 ( up £200) 15 mins on Internet whilst at daughters football training and Carole Nash gave almost same cover for £280. Agreed values, salvage retention, legal cover, breakdown. 916sps & Superlight. It pays to change insurance companies ever few years it seems.
Footman James was the outfit I used when in a similar situation and they certainly did me a decent deal with excellent coverage too.
This year BeMoto bumped the cover on my 1260 MTS up by a couple of hundred quid. Called to discuss and they stated the their underwriter no longer favoured bigger bikes and there was nothing that they could do. Not sure if that was BS but returned to Carole Nash again and annual policy was around £130. Added extras such as European recovery, legal protection and protected NCB (basically everything except cover for riding gear) and it rose to around £270. Happy with that, cheaper than the £315 I payed with BeMoto the previous year.
Read an article today saying motorists insurance has jumped 21% over the last 2 years. That’s a chunk… Wish my wages had jumped 21% over the same period…
"Dear Mr Andy Bee - NCD Refund We are writing to you because we have identified an error with the price you paid when you recently renewed the above policy. We're sorry for this error which meant the price you were charged was higher that it should have been. As a result, you're due a total refund of £113.14, which has been worked out by adding compensatory interest of 8% per annum to the premium amount overcharged which was £1.89. We are then required to deduct income tax of 20% from the compensatory interest which amounts to £0.38" No explanation as to why the refund, Aviva car policy, but banked the cheque & said Hurrah!
