1200 DVT Throttle Recall And Latest Map

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by duke63, Jul 23, 2017.

  1. Fellas these aren't recalls.

They are improvements, reworks, whatever phrase you want to use. Factory recognise an issue or problem which may affect performance and put out a rework for the next time the bike is in.

  2. Yes @bradders , but would these still not be notified to owners or on the link that was posted ?

  3. Let me know how your phone call or visit goes to Rapidos, and I'll try the same :upyeah:

  4. Spoke to the man, seems well up to date. Rang me back after 10 minutes and said mine only wanted a throttle update. Busy though, got to wait 2 weeks. No bodder, as they say round here.

  5. no you would not be notified unless ig posed a threat to your wellbeing etc, Ducati are not under any obligations to. These issues are not alerted to anyone via VoSA, just a memo to their dealer networks, so totally different to a recall.

  6. I had the opposite when I took my 2015 in for its service and recalls. Bike ran like shit after the remap. Nothing like before. Took it back and they plugged in it again and said nothing was wrong with it.

  7. Went to rapidos today to book mine in for its 1 year service, and asked most of the above questions, the tech bloke there said there is nothing needed on my bike, it's an Aug 16 bike, that's had one 600 mile service so far and nothing else. He also said that if a map was updated and the difference was very noticeable, then the bike probably had a faulty map beforehand, as the updates don't make much difference. Anyhoo, it put my mind at rest, as it wants for bugger all, except new oil next week

  8. Had mine done at Snell's last week, now extremely smooth and quick. I didn't think they could improve on it but they did.
Also, those with panniers, there is also a recall on the pannier connection pins so take them in as well.

  9. Weird, they said mine wanted nothing, what year is your bike?

  10. 2016

  11. Bizarre how some need and some don't? Confused?

  12. Must go by frame/build number then. My bike was registered in July '16 but when i did the deal i initially wanted a red one, dealer had 2 white ones in stock and threw in a free topbox which sealed the deal for me as no 6 week wait for a red one. Not sure how long it had been in stock for so could've possibly been a few months...
Im pretty sure the pannier lug fix is relatively recent so if you have panniers i would push them for it.

  13. Had my throttle (be sure to tell them whether it has heated grips or not) and pannier lugs done, Riders aren't the best at keeping you informed, but this time they phoned me up.

  14. Had my Pannier lugs changed for metal reinforced lugs...and a new throttle body...mines a 2016 DVT S touring

  15. Very strange, mines a 2016 DVT's in red with panniers and heated grips. Moto Rapido said it wants nothing ? I'll ask again when it goes in for oil change, but yesterday, they said nowt ?

  16. At the factory they digitally tag all the batches of parts been added to the bikes. If you are in the batch with substandard materials you'll get notified. Especially if its a new model bike, the engineers constantly test new items coming into the factory too eleviate the possibility of expensive recalls or major faults.

  17. Mines 2017 3 weeks old & the throttles a bitch. Getting full termi on at weekend & remap so hoping all that will change as the flap valve comes off & with mod & remap will give correct fueling,,, i hope.

  18. That's odd as mine is a week old and the throttle control is excellent, although it is easier in traffic if I switch to Touring or Urban. Maybe related to final drive lower gearing of Enduro version?

  19. Let me be more specific. If you are in town & in slow traffic, it is hard to keep the throttle smooth. & yes in urban it is much better but still not perfect. I have had a lot of bikes but 1st big L twin so need more practice.
