  1. similar story explains my bike :)

  4. I'd love to go with the plate under the subframe but can't be arsed with the hassle I'd get from local plod

  5. Ha n here's me thinking you were having the lavish lifestyle with exotic machinery at such an age because of the above, when it's actually because the below :upyeah:

I'd like a second opinion if the accident has any bearing on wether we are talking to a "massively spoit little tw*t" or not  :upyeah:

  8. Lol, I'm a very passive person and I care very little of what people think of me. I like to think I'm laid back haha

  9. Just got a response from Russ at Ducati Mondo who has let me know that the red lens is a no no, so im probably going to go for a dark smoke one, with an evo tech tail tidy and a much smaller plate, nothing ridiculous, just smaller ;-). Once I get it sorted, ill post some pics.
Oh and nothing wrong with being laid back, certainly a much nicer way to live your life than being stressed to the nines all day long :) :)

  10. Completely agree Matt

I've always gone for 7"x5" plates, noticeably smaller than legal but not so small that you draw massive attention to yourself. What was Russ' reasoning for not having a red integrated light? Red not showing the indicators clearly enough?

  11. Thinking about it logically, that would be very true.

  12. Yep, the red lens wouldn't show the true yellow of the indicators

  13. Well I just went into the garage to fix the brake light on my Ninja when before I know it im taking the back of my Ducati apart.

I got the tail off and replaced the rear light, with a dark smoke integrated model

Took off the exhausts, replaced the number plate hanger, put the exhausts back on

and that is where I stopped.

I checked the wires from the loom that go to the rear indicators

and noticed that that have double the wires for actual lights

I wanted to get a second opinion as to join the wires I going to need to change at least one connector, but which one. If possible I'd like to have the white box connectors that are on the loom, but it may be easier to cut them off and replace them with some bullet connectors. Does anybody know what the two wires are from the loom, ie is one an earth, is so which one?

  14. The final part. I started by cutting the wires from the original indicators (to get the plugs), found the positive wire and grafted on some bullet connectors. I cut the wires from the new rear light down to a better length and joined it all up.

Before it went onto the bike a surrounded them with some insulating tape, checked my photos to show where the original wires went and the cable tied what I could to the rear sub frame

After a little bit of jiggery pokery I got the rear back on, making sure to test it all before I tightened everything up

Measured the back of the new plate with some tape and a Sharpie

and finally a nice tidy looking rear end

Once I know the MOT man is happy, i'll cut off the indicator hangers from the side of the number player bracket. Job done :upyeah:

  15. Yeah that's the only problem "The MOT man". If he's a reasonable sort you'll be fine, if he's letter of the law type you could have problems, as I recall the rear indicators have to be a set distance apart.

I remember this when I fitted my R&G tidy a while ago and ended up buying stalks to get the indicators far enough apart. What you could do is double up on the wiring taking leads down to the tidy via superseal or other plug type. Fit external indicators for your test then just remove them and the wiring afterwards. I have a similar setup but in reverse, with a plug under the seat so as I can disable the indicator function on the tail light by unplugging a connector under the seat.

Dunno about your tester, but you will probably also need either a permanent or stick on reflector too, depending on yer MOT man's preference.

    Just my experiences

Oh and thanks for posting up the How to Photographs its always nice when people go to the bother of doing it for others.

  16. I checked with him before I did it so it should be okay. Im running a slightly smaller plate and when it comes to MOT time, i'll put the normal one back on, reflector and all  Great thing about this tail tidy is there are no wires running to it, so for trackdays I just have to unbolt two screws and its job done :upyeah:
