1200 Pikes Peak Times Are Hard. Thinking Of Selling

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Daddy2coull, May 31, 2020.

  1. That was the option I was moving towards. if it gets shitty job wise, it's good to know if the numbers are right then you can hand the bike back and walk away more or less even.

I personally would see this as you mention, a strong possibility and after the current job/work/virus situation, I doubt you would be the only one returning a pcp vehicle, I suspect quite a few will be

  2. Not a great time to sell either. Good time to buy, I just bought a bike for considerably less than it would have been a few months ago. The dealer was keen to have it gone. Imho hoping for a good price selling privately at the moment is futile.

  3. Agree, got a cracking deal on a 2017 DVT but dealer was not interested in a part ex, so I need to sell my 2010 mutley!

  4. They need cash not trade ins as sales are down. Ideal time.if you have the money burning a hole in your pocket. It's definitely a buyer's market at the moment. Doesn't help your friend here one little bit, cut your losses would be my choice if I had to make it.

  5. I must admit I'm not a fan of pcp and balloon payments, BMW have my brother hooked into these and hence brand loyalty.
There is no denying his current GSA is an extremely capable machine, just not my cup of tea.

  6. I just googled PCP and balloon payment. Didn't know what it meant. I'm old fashioned and buy stuff outright or not at all.

  7. As a matter of interest, I've been toying with a v4/ v4s/v4r.
I have money, but I have a 1098 I love. I only ride it in the absolute dry (I don't track), so I'm not that desperate to buy unless I get a really good deal.
How did you work yours? Did you make an offer at a specific price, or ask what they'd accept or what?
I've offered nearly 500 less than asking for a V4S and been laughed at, so I'm not quite sure how much of a buyer's market it is??

  8. In my case, I started with a very cheeky offer which of course was rejected, then some proper negotiating and got my 2017 DVT with goodies ( Carbon parts, Termi, Puig, Evotech goodies all over and new scorp 2's for the similar price some dealers want for 2014 twin sparks! Very happy indeed and willing to let my 2010 PP liveried baby go a little cheaper.

  9. How much of a reduction did you get?

  10. My approach is different. I don't make a offer at all. I say that the asking price isn't what I'm willing to pay but I'm not into bartering. Then I'm asking for their best price. I had a few F.. offs but I got what I wanted cheaper than I have seen one before.

  11. Reduction was 500 nicker and half price delivery so 625 total. I know it doesn't seem that much but its about 7.5% discount on the original asking price.

  12. I got him to drop a further 100 quid on his best price the started the negotiating with the delivery, I'm a yorkshire lad cant help bartering! :innocent:

  13. I offered a grand under the price for a RSV4 RF at Jems SS the other day and best reduction they offered was 200 quid.
Now moving ahead with a new 765RS for 500 quid under retail which was already agreed before the pandemic.
I thought I was going to belay on the Trump thinking its a buyers market but track bike wise road or track ready I’m not sure enough people in my 10k price range had got the memo, either waiting around delusional not quite understanding that the value of bikes had dropped or had enough reserves to not sell their bike for bugger all.
I nearly bought a V2 which would have left me with bugger all, admittedly debt free with bugger all but still, glad I didn’t now.

Sorry for the hijac, just my experience last couple of months.

  14. I think there are bargains to be had but they are most likely a result of someone's misfortune. Hence I ask for the best price and then either accept or decline. For all I know the bloke I bought from might have made a grand but I paid what he asked and I'm happy with what i got for my money.

  15. Absolutely chief, after the agreed price was reached I was very happy, the dealer was obviously happy as when he delivered the bike there was a big box full of all the original parts, plus lots of other goodies cap t-shirt cup banners posters and Ducati lithos so I'm a very happy tyke.
