848 Timing Belts, If Anyone Knows About Them

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by slinky848, Feb 14, 2017.

  1. It would be with Ducati Engines though :)
Plenty of Forum Members fit their own belts - you might find someone local to help for some beer vouchers and even show you how it's done.
Also check out the video's on my web site home page to get an idea.

  2. You didn't read the service schedule I posted then? :Watching:

  3. True, my 996 uses the same oil filter as a Citroen 2CV. but an oil filter just filters oil. I don't know many V-twin Peugeot's than run at 10k rpm. (edited)

  10. milage said every 15k miles,

i stated i just reduce that to 1/3rd (5k miles)

    then lold.

    nvm

and in reply to the statement a cars timing belt wouldnt be fit for a twin at 12k revs.

twin means nothing, only belt overall length,

and surely a ducati using a part not suffiant for the engine wouldnt be a shock to us all?

  11. I'm expecting a Nuke from him soon :D

  14. You can do more than 5k miles think it's more like 10-12?, but I wouldn't let them go too much past the 2 years, people do and some get away with it but personally I'd rather not chance it..

  15. I think any new member coming on to this forum innocently asking about timing belts ought to get their first years subscription paid for by @Extract personally

  17. baring in mind i dont actually have posession of my ducati yet i am ahead of myself on this forum.

but a few guys at work said to get involved and join a forum. here i am

met some what seem to be nice guys and get replys on stuff almist instantly which is great!

the timing belt thing was 2 buke mechanics (from the same shop) with decades of experiance saying they found out the timing belts are the same as a cars. no big deal, just thought i would share it here, i enjoy a debate any-case.

in my head a timing belt that can withstand multiples of the torque the ducati puts out sounds like a good thing in all honesty

im buying this bike and its an almost different world, im trying to do it right and make sure im looking after the bike. hopefully that has been obvious.

is there normally a charge for this forum? am i on a temporary thing?

and no none of this is a joke, or faux.

  19. I liked your honesty.
No there is no charge for this forum, but if you want a 15% discount from @Exige you will need to be a suporter LINK.

Lets go back for the question.

No dont buy a peugeot belt...
You can change with 15k mls or 2 years. Within these parameters there is already a safety margin.
    And welcome.

Ps: wait? i can legally ride this 848evo on the road?

    Enjoy your bike!!
