I'll tell you what pleases me. A pint with my good mate Stinky Pete on a sunday night. Cheese on toast. New clothes, especially shoes. The top end rattle from my Guzzi. A good cuddle, preferably with a woman... A day when all the traffic lights are green. Happy children (not in a nog way, you understand...) Seeing a really beautiful woman. A mint chain and swingarm. A dry road in winter. A freshly made bed.
A really long, loud fart. Magic..... But don't do it during an interview. Getting 20+ on Pop Masters (Ken Bruce, radio 2). Actually getting one question correct on University Challenge.
The worrying thing about University Challenge is that the kids know far more than I do. They have amassed more knowledge in their 20 years than I have in 50. In theory, I ought to get about 1/4 of any team's points at least, seeing as there are 4 in each and only one of me. Sadly, I don't think I do. Some of the stuff they know is really obscure. I imagine they have had excellent secondary educations. Mind you, I visited a private Swiss school for expats recently (work) and they were teaching classes of primary school age kids to treat photos on their iPads in the style of Matisse, Miro et al. I hadn't even heard of these artists until the age of about 17, let alone start reinterpreting their work in art class. That's the difference between an expensive private education and a bog-stock state one.
A nice cup of tea Crisp sunny mornings The first sip of a refreshing beer after a long day Getting into a bed with clean sheets on A good bike ride when everything flows and man and machine are in perfect harmony The satisfaction from having efficiently packed the car boot, making good use of every lastbit of space Starting a new bottle (doesn't matter what of - whisky or shower gel - there is something pleasing about breaking into a new one) Spotting something new and beautiful in familiar surroundings Apple orchards - I find something strangely reassuring about seing apples on trees, as if the world is not such a bad place after all A good kiss
Nah - they've just accumulated useless crap that'll never help them in real life. I bet not one of them can boil and egg. Honestly, I see graduates working as interns at my workplace and I wonder how they've managed to live thus far with some of the things they come out with.
from someone who once suffered with a kidney stone ................ when your bursting being able to piss.
Fish & Chips with a few beers and good friends on the beach, watching all the kids having the time of their lives.
