Titanium Calliper Bolts - Good or bad?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by comesunt, Jan 11, 2014.

  1. Replace every time they are taken off. FPMSL, some people really do have more money than sense

  2. With stretch bolts you can get a few uses before they need replacing.

  3. i thought that was pete…...

  4. i used them on my rvf400 but went for pro bolt rather than some chinese ones off ebay that arrive in a brown bag.

  5. Don't think anyone runs con rod bolts made from ti. :)

  6. It is what some manufacturers recommend.

  7. there is no mention of the need to lockwire the caliper bolts in the "new" NL 2014 regs.

it was in there for endurance in the old regs but seems to have been removed in the update.

i hope that's the case anyway as my Ti caliper bolts aren't pre-drilled and drilling them would be a pain.

  8. If you do need to drill them keep your speed down as Ti cuts better slowly .

  9. Never seen any rules that say you have to lockwire caliper bolts. If you dont have retaining pins on pads, some Ducatis dont exp rears, they like lockwire on those to stop the pads dropping out. What kind of idiot doenst do his caliper bolts up properly....

  10. We entered the No Budget Cup in 2010 and 2011. For both those races we had to lock wire the front calliper bolts; so we were expecting to have to do the same for NLR. Must admit; not read the regs yet...

Bought the drilled Ti bolts now; so may as well put them on next time I change the front wheel. As it seems that loctite is not recommended for Ti, then will be inclined to lock wire them.

    Can't do any harm??

  11. It does no harm , and is not an ACU reg. No Budget cup had some funny rules and shit tyres.

  12. nope, and lockwiring is such fun :upyeah:
