Just had my 1198 70mm termis ceramic coated racespec BLACK. Polishing ....just ends up cutting your hand to bits.
That's why mine are coated........... Giving them a quick blast with Sperex is a damn sight easier than polishing and although cheaper (a lot) than ceramic coat, not as long lasting..... If pipes need to look good with minimal polishing work, get them nickel plated.....cheaper than ceramic coat and it look as bit like polished stainless.
or just a bit of wire wool and autosol. you'll never get a mirror polish this way but will bring old pipes back to new or even a little better. quick and easy.
I`m thinking about taking the pipes off my 749 and giving them a clean over the winter, they do look a bit scabby now. The front pipe can be removed without disturbing the manifold (the fairing covers most of it anyway) but the rear pipe would need to be removed at the manifold because the whole pipe can be seen, if that makes sense. How easy do the rear manifold bolts come undone from the engine? Has anyone snapped any of these bolts?
