Today's the day I believe - Ducati open or Factory?

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by damodici, Feb 28, 2014.

  1. FFS its getting dafter by the day.

So Ducati may start in Open then be put to Factory 2 if they do well. Gonna cause confusion all over the place. You wont know who is where....

  2. Good point Phil .
Unless manufacturers can come up with a completely new way of getting these bikes around a track , i.e. suspension , telelever whatever , then bike technology must surely almost be at its limit , how much further can electronics go ?.
Eventually if there is no improvement then the only way to go (if chassis technology is at an impasse) is back to old school ... No electronics or very limited.
Would make for far better racing , man against the machine against another hombre wringing its neck... Bring it on please.

  3. I'm not against the electronics, but everything that is repetitive, ie designed for corner 3,4 every lap etc is completely irrelevant for road riders. There is a great quote from mike Webb saying that traction control needs to go back to being a safety aid rather than a go faster aid.

  4. But the japs are not interested in the hombre, he is just a tool. The star is the bike, winning is the only goal, at any cost - that's why there's only 2 factories left in it (not discounting Ducati, but they just aren't on the same level). But now we have an open class, and the 2 jap superpowers are providing customer kit - you'd think they'd want their product to do well, but it seems not in Honda's case.

  5. Its just wank , I just can't believe that he's been such a spineless weasel.

man up Ezpeleta, man the fućk up

  6. You're right Fig , the hombre risking it , is less important than the tool , I have no issue with that as Honda and the rest are putting their effort into their products , but all these intelligent minds that come together to make a racing motorcycle look and perform better than the rest maybe aren't that savvy , with no spectacle who's going to be interested in how great their techno is.
After all (bit off tangent here) who gives a toss what makes the space shuttle work other than seeing it take off.

  7. Honda have today insisted on another rule change.

  8. So, come sunday night, how many classes will I be watching in the Moto GP race? I am confused. I fear we are going to end up with something akin to Formula 1, ie not worth watching.

  9. Daft isn't it, days before the season and the rules aren't finalised. It's no wonder sponsors are hard to find.

We do know that there will only be one championship, no parc ferme or podium for the open bikes.

  10. Well, at least I can still enjoy world superbikes "sigh"
