1200 DVT Tomorrow!

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Stanford, Jun 26, 2015.

  1. No. There is damage to the heat shield on the pannier where it has been hitting against the exhaust. The circle shapes replicate the surface pattern on the heat shield.

  2. was it there before? was the panniers all ready fitted?

  3. No. The sales exec fitted them when I was stood next to the bike. I rode it home, took the pannier of and discovered the damage. The pannier heat shield and the exhaust clearly indicate damage where they have been hitting together. The gap between both as you can see from the picture is only 2-3mm, which is not right.

  4. That's the first thing I thought, theirs no swarf or dust where it's been rubbing, just little craters like a chemical burn or as you say an electrical arc.

  5. Is there anyone out there with panniers on a brand new 1200s model, that can post a picture taken from the same position, demonstrating the gap between their exhaust and pannier, please.

  8. Thanks Dinger. That is a bigger gap. Are there any marks on your silencer due to contact with the heat shield?

  9. Looks like your rear hanger is bent.
looking at the other 2 picks compaird to yours.

  10. I'm not home at the moment so I can't check. Do you mean the exhaust hanger?

  11. Could be I was asuming the rear foot peg was part of the pannier bracket aka hanger.

  12. No mate, and I have had the pannier off a few times too.

  13. Thanks. Is the gap about 20mm, it is difficult to tell on the photograph due to the background?

  14. Sorry it's about 20mm give or take mate,

  15. Thanks Dinger, that's a great help. You're a gentleman. It's going back in to Ducati Glasgow tomorrow and they'll get to the bottom of it.

  16. That's ok Roddy I hope they sort it asafp ;-)

  17. Brilliant service from Ducati Glasgow. Martin and his chief technician Charlie examined the bike and discovered that the exhaust was out of line and had came like that from the factory. An easy oversight as the panniers had not been fitted until I arrived to collect the bike and you would never notice the exhaust was not sitting correctly. Anyhow. New exhaust fitted within 30 minutes and got away in the afternoon for a 200 mile ride out. Engine and gear box are brilliant. I find that the handling and effortless torque make for a very enjoyable experience. Look forward to getting away for a tour this summer. Thanks DG for the great service.
