1200 Took a Multi out for test ride. Guess what happened next..

  1. When do you get it? Just in time for the weather change and some big journeys

  2. We had a truck (with keys) nicked from work that had a tracker fitted, it took the police about 1/2 hour to find it and get to it, it was in a barn.

The police told us that they usually leave them somewhere quiet for a few days to see if it has a tracker, if the police don't turn up then they would stick some false plates on it and send it abroad. The police wanted to leave it under surveillance to catch the thieves when they returned but the owner was having none of to because he thought they would cock up and he would never see it again.

Funny thing (not for the driver), about a week later the truck was forcibly pulled over by 3 police cars, the driver was dragged from the cab and pretty much thrown in the back of one of the cars, it turned out they hadn't removed the stolen flag from their system when it was recovered. Lots of apologies and red faces for the boys in Blue but it does prove that they are looking for stolen vehicles.

  3. at the end of the day, if someone wants to steal your bike they will, but my view make it as hard as possible, trackers do not rely solely on GPS though now days

  4. It could be as early as next week if they have one in group stock, otherwise three weeks. I'll be doing a tour of Scotland a week later at 6Krpm max if that's the case. Still. better on a running in Multi than on the Versys I suppose.

  5. Still over a ton at 6k so no problem there ;)

  6. I did exactly the same thing ! Ever since the test ride my Tiger Explorer 1200 just isnt the same and feels like a cart horse now !! Mine supposed to be arriving within the next 2 weeks , Yippee ! Just enough time to get it run in before the TT :0)

  7. Yeah quite honestly 6k is more than enough to ride the bike running in, I often never ride about that in normal conditions, plenty of torque to overtake, so tall geared to, it really is not a problem. well over a ton at 6k in 5th and 6th according to my maths :)

  8. I got the call today that my bike is in transit and should be ready for picking up in ten days. I've got the reg number so can go ahead and get the insurance sorted. I have a question about when to start the insurance from though. Do I insure it from midnight of pick up day or a few days before, as the dealer needs the insurance cover note to tax and register (?) the bike.
Can't wait to pick it up.

  9. Ask the dealer as they don't tax it any more, it arrives in the post

  10. Midnight on the pick up day is OK as registration and tax will be done on line when you arrive to pick it up. Make sure you take it with. If you have a trade in most insurance companies allow a 24hr period for your old bike and new bike.
