I do love TG, however the series have got shorter and less frequent. I think they now know its run its course. I'd be surprised if we see another series. The mother of all challenges to send it into retirement would be good. I wonder what they would think of?
Not yet do not think so. It is quite popular abroad. Also doing a expensive show to air during Olympics where coverage for that was everywhere would not be a good decision. I think they are aware that most people feel like it was said here before. They enjoy watching it but would not cry if they missed it.
As far as I know, it's the Beeb's biggest export. Must bring in plenty of cash, so I'd be surprised if they knocked it on the head.
I agree it's gotten a little tired over the years but I still watch it and generally enjoy it. I think if more of us e-mailed them and asked for the odd biker related thingy they might take notice. I did once, asked for a "Ducati special" how hard would it be for them to feck off down to Bologna and do a piece? Hammond and May both ride bikes (sod Clarkson) I think Hammond's got a 916 so he should at least be up for it. No doubt there's insurance type stuff to take in to account but I'm not asking them to kill themselves. The marque is up there with likes of Ferrari, Porsche etc etc, with a fantastic racing heritage. At present it just appears totally anti-bikes, maybe they see it as the thin end of the wedge, do one, they have to do them all?? Any way ..... In the end to quote Clarkson himself, "It's like an old whiffy dog - you couldn't shoot it" National treasure for me.
Clarkson did say in an interview before this series that they would now be shorter and less frequent as they're struggling for ideas. The reason this series started late was because they wouldn't of had it edited in time to start when it normally does.
Because of Olympics. Normal time for TG would be November but they were shooting episodes only after August so yes they would be tight on time.
lets face it, TG is tripe.. it used to be funny courtesy of clarksons one liners but its now totally jumped the shark..its so contrived and scripted that its embarrassing to watch at times..hammonds stupid proNUNceATIOns and EMPHasis on WORDS... didnt clarkson sell his share of the production company and get £50 million? i think he'd still salaried for something like £500k.. i cant be arsed to watch it anymore, its simply too juvenile, and doesnt have anything to do with cars.
Stars in the car suggestions: Rossi Agostini Witham Foggy Harry Hill Jack Dee Though I do think they should all be on track at the same time Cant stand C Moyles.... Agree that T G is now predictable and sometimes a bit boring and contrived. Time for a major overhaul IMO
I know it's a "reasonably priced car" but can't they get something that doesn't look so vile and that no one would ever want to own, and if they did, they'd use it for doing the shopping and not for setting a time on a track?
Highest ratings of any brekkie show presenter BBC radio has ever had. Ratings jumped 1million over night when he took over from wogan.
Rossi or Lorenzo would be nice, at the other end of the spectrum, and for a PR coup, how about prince harry or William? I'm sure some chat about choppers in Afghanistan and his Ducati 848 would go down well with harry, and allow the common man to feel some genuine connection to our monarchy. William v harry would be a massive ratings puller
Pretty standard fare to be honest, which isnt to say the programme wasnt enjoyable. Very well made, produced and written with all three playing their respective parts excellently. I can see them doing a Long Way Round type trip in a few years thou
